Version 2.2

Absolutely love this App... Until I downloaded the update to 2.2 and now I can't even open it. It crashes every time.
Fix or allow me to download old version please. Soon!

Very Expensive

If you want all the extras plus the irig guitar cable it's going to cost about $150.00 + bucks. Oh but only for 1 device. Buck up twice as much if you also want it on your phone. Not a universal app
The purchase price should include all the extras but doesn't
You already have to fork out $50 to $75 bucks for irig just to use it, then they want
$15 for record
$15 for fender
$ 5 each for vocal $25 total
$ 3 each for extra effects pedals $15 total
Who knows what other extras they'll come up with next $$$$

Beware V2.2 crashes on start up - an update

An quick update to my previous review. I emailed the developers about V2.2 crashing on start up and got the following reply.

"Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Try this: Click on your Home button to go back to your main iPad Home page. Double-click on the Home button. This will show a small list of apps on the bottom of your screen. These are the apps that are open and running in the background, in multi-task mode. This may be taking up resources on your iPad that are preventing AmpliTube from opening properly.

To close these apps, hold down any app icon until the apps on this list start to "shake". You will see a RED minus sign over each app on this list. Click on the red minus sign until you close all of the apps running in the background.

Once you are done closing the apps, click on the Home button again, and try re-launching AmpliTube.

If this doesn't help, try turning the iPad off and restarting it. Do this by holding down the power/standby button until you see a red slider that says: "Slide to Power Off". Move the slider and wait until the iPad turns off completely. Wait 10-20 seconds, then turn the iPad back on. Try launching AmpliTube again to see if this helps."

Closing down all the apps running in the background and re opening AmpliTube worked for me and it's now back to it's 5 star best : )

Hope this helps others who are having the same issues.

Awesome

Keep in mind that this an iPad app, and not a physical amp. Great tones for practicing, nice crunch and clean tones, and a half-decent metal amp (again, iPad amp. This thing isn't going to sound like an Orange or Blackstar, or Marshall, but it gets the job done certainly.) The tuner is fairly accurate, and the ability to record and play along with iPod songs is awesome.

The most important benefit of this amp in my opinion is convenience. I can't count the number of times I've neglected to practice because I didn't want to power up my rig and get everything dialed in. This app makes it incredibly easy to plug in and play, and get a good warm up or practice in. My skill as a guitarist and my enjoyment of guitar have both improved as a result of this amp.

People concerned about price should take into account the breadth of sound that you can dial in, and the convenience of this app, compared to buying many stomp boxes, a practice or starter amp, then upgrading as you improve. If I could go back in time, this would have been my starter amp.

Great for beginners, and good for people who need convenience in practice. Well done!

Ampitube is a great app

I love using it.. I updated today and know the keeps closing right after it is openned. Please help.
It would be great if Guitar pro and ampitube could run together...

Thanks

Lose the ads! Add key adjustments!

Decent enough. Great for practice. HOWEVER given the cost of this app and every in app purchase needed to unlock various pedals, badgering me to buy your other products every time I open the app is completely unacceptable. A splash screen while loading I can deal with, though I'd rather not on a paid app. But have to clear 2-3 pop up ads every time I launch before can even do anything is inexcusable on a paid app.

Also, the tuner has a terrible time properly handling the low b string on my bass.

In addition, not all songs are played or performed in the same key as the original track. To better facilitate practicing, we need a way to adjust the key of a recorded track up or down. Fix the ads and this would be a four star app. Add the track key adjustment for that fifth star.

WOW!!!!

I was absolutely blown away by the effects on this thing, they sound excellent, pay like $20 for awesome effects and a great interface, instead of paying hundreds of dollars on effects pedal and sound modules... Great work im impressed. Would also love to see more of the amplitube pedals like step slicers, pitch shifters, and tap delays :P

Let the "I-Rip" be your clue...

As in "Rip Off"
The app itself might be worth your hard earned cash, I find that $30.00 for shipping cost for the I-Rip that you need is awful.
In order to use this product you have to order the I-rip plug in.
That's going to cost $39.99. "PLUS" they charge an additional $30.00 for shipping and handling. Then add on your taxes plus the price for the app, you're looking at $90.00+ just to get started.
SO BE WARE ! ! !
I FEEL TOTALY RIPPED OFF ! ! !

On the cusp of greatness...

I like the amp models better than Garageband and Line6 - I think they sound much better. However, this rig has way too much noise. I know it comes with a noise filter effect for free, but it cuts into the signal and tone too much. Please work on making this app more quiet. For jamming, this app gets 5 stars. But when you by the multi-track recorder, things go downhill. The recorder leaves a lot to be desired. I think everyone digs the analog retro visuals, but analog, linear tape-like recording is the pits. I believe every would rather have a multi-track/view workspace like every other recording app (Garageband, sonar, cubase, etc..) It is a stable app, but the few crashes I've had were when I was recording. I know the resource challenges you have with the hardware limitations of the iPad, so hats of to you for even attempting multi-track recording at all.

It would be neat if we could save the tracks to Drop Box or Mobile Me iDisk.

Everyone complains about their $20, but they don't understand what goes into making an app like this. $20 is a steal, I think it's underpriced. It's a substantial undertaking, and requires advanced programming talent - it's a bit more complicated than Angry Birds. Also, please ask the guys to offer the bass amp in the IPhone app!!!

Fantastic easy to use, great sounding app at a fantastic price...

Yes it costs a little more than other iOS apps, but it's 1/4th the price of some of the physical pedals I've bought (& no longer bother to use) and way less than most desktop music apps. iPad makes it super simple to fine tune your sound, mixing and matching pedals (or buying new ones for the price of a bus ride).

Great tones, great variety, can take with you wherever you go and pull out to get the sound of playing through mucho equipment in seconds with no lugging around, setting up, finding cables, wall plugs etc etc... Use headphones or any stereo/amp/car stereo etc etc with a line in and get great sounds...

I am happy to be able to now record single track for those times when I hit on something and it just sounds right; and it's nice that there’s flexibility to add multitrack recording (again for the price of 2 or 3 beers), but I mostly used the older version, and will continue to use the update, for just amusing myself rather than expecting a full recording studio.
