  • We tune in from 5:30am til 10:00 every day

    KDFC plays in our house all day long it relaxes us and our dogs. There aren’t many choices for classical music but thanks to the internet we are able to listen to KDFC when ever we want. We even raised our grand children to listen and they still do when the go to bed. The world gets more complicated everyday but listening listening to KDFC takes that edge off. Thank you KDFC and all of their DJ’s and staff for making classical music fun, entertaining and educational!

  • Love KDFC but not the software glitches

    I’ve been listening (and contributing) to KUSC and KDFC (depending on where I’ve lived) for decades. I love the music, the presenters and their vast musical knowledge. I love the wide variety of music played, and I especially love the commentary. It adds to my appreciation of the music.

    However, there’s a software glitch that I can’t seem to fix by either shutting down my phone and rebooting or by reinstalling the app. And that’s the glitch that the titles of the piece and the composers no longer reflect what is currently playing. When I open my phone in the morning if I reboot my phone, it will show me what is currently playing, but then never change throughout the day unless I shut down my phone again. Even a software update on my phone doesn’t fix this. It drives me crazy because I’m always trying to figure out the composer and I double check my phone to see if I’m right. Or I hear something that I completely don’t know and I look at my phone to find out what it is and who the composer is, and I discover that the title and composer are still the same ones that they were at 8 AM. This has been a problem for the past six months or so.

    Please please fix this.

  • Flashback to Childhood

    I too grew up listening to KDFC on the radio, at home & in the car. I always appreciated that they play complete pieces all the way through (all movements), without talking over any of it, but including as “bookends” informative historical tidbits about the composer, the piece, and/or the performers. Also always clearly identified the performing group, conductor, composer, & year of composition, which greatly increased my knowledge about “classical” music.

    It’s nice in this age of AI and autoplay, when music format stations of any genre are rare & super-automated, to listen (even on the internet!) to a station that still respects the input of “DJs” and the relationship of listeners to human music curators, even if they’re no longer sitting in a studio putting the records on turntables (I think). I wish I could afford to donate, but I’m on a fixed income & have a lot of survival expenses to cover just now, so I’m grateful to those who do donate & make this possible. So I’m giving them this 5-star review instead.
