  • Quite good

Easy to use and analog meter is an effective method for this purpose.
However the strip recording is odd: nothing intuitive about this!
It seems you can’t stop it, and there is no way to show when the record was made. The top left and right labels are virtually unreadable (for SELECT and DONE), and I don’t see how to annotate them. Am I operating it incorrectly I wonder?

Thanks for your review and comments! The strip chart recorder is meant to be as intuitive as possible, but obviously needs some improvement / instructions. Thanks for pointing at this. Some quick tips for using it: - It continuously records the sound level as long as it is visible on screen. - Tap on the left side (where the strip comes out) to start a fresh strip. - The (start-) date and time is printed on the left side of each strip. - Swipe over a strip on the stack to delete it. - Tap the stack to display all recorded strips. - Two-finger swipe over the list to select multiple strips for sharing or deleting. - Tap a strip in the list to enlarge it, then tap somewhere on it to add a short annotation. There is obviously a bug with the visibility of some buttons in dark mode. Sorry for this - will get fixed.
  • Simple to use

Exactly what it should be but I wonder why it asks for Camera access? Big thanks to developer for keeping this going.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your review! There is a feature that lets you take photos with the dB reading visible. Just tap the camera icon above the dB display or drag down with your finger to activate it. The first time you do this, it will ask for camera permission. Best regards
  • Excellent

Nice and simple. The free version should be good enough for most users. I have it installed on my Watch for easy access when I’m working in a noisy environment and it gives an alert if sound levels reach an alarming level. Brilliant!
  • Outstanding decibel meter…

Fast - easy interface - Useful when cleaning house, reading, hiking to make sure the ‘noise’ is good noise.

Thanks for your review! I'm happy you like the app.
  • I watch app ?

From a pro soundguy, best meter ever! I hope we can get this app on iWatch. That would make it the best tool a soundguy could have in his e-letherman!

    Developer Response

Thank you for the kind words! I will move the watch app up in the priority list.
  • Elegant

Given an often gaudy choice of interfaces, this is definitely a case of Less is More. Simple and elegant. Being able to print an analogue strip is visually very effective. Would love a Decibels widget please!

    Developer Response

Thank you for the kind words! iOS widgets can only display static content so far, unfortunately. But maybe that will change in the future...
  • Nick barrett

    Interface controls are too hidden
It is maddening in it lack of intuitive functionality
There are no back buttons to navigate out of dead ends
    The device itself works well
    So do graphs
Why can’t I play back recorded info out loud?

    Developer Response

Dear Nick barrett, It seems to me you are reviewing a different app here. Decibels does not record audio - there is nothing that could be played back out loud. Regards, -david

    Developer Response

Thank you for the nice feedback!
  • Nice look

Nice look. I use it when listening to my hi-fi system as a volume monitor. It would be very nice if different VU meter appearance would be available. Thanks
