This game is an excellent mix of the classic and new. There are planes coming at you in classic shmup formations, then there are planes with a bit more bullet-hell style. If you love shmups, you will definitely enjoy this one, especially for it's difficulty. Don't listen to people who complain of difficulty--obviously they've never heard of "Nintendo Hard."
It wasn't the developer's intention to charge people twice for the same game. They made this version FREE for a few days for the old customers to download it again when it was first released. It stated clearly in the game description then. It actually reached top positions in the Free Apps chart while it was free so it seemed lots of people downloaded it.

Old style screen crawlers like this rule take me back to my youth . any ways i just wanted to stay love the app and the new plans and missions . also wanted to state that i remeber another game like this where the different plans and diffrent weapon upgrade so it would not get stale while the plans have diff states but the same firing stye got boring maybe change that up its just a thought ... thanks for the great app
I have had my iPod for a long time. When my friends get an iPod or iPhone, they go to me to tell them what apps to get. I say, "Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja, and iFighter 1945. This game defines fighter games. The new update has brought me extreme joy. I love the new levels and the soundtrack, but the aircraft carrier is very hard to kill. It took me forever, and I enjoyed every second of trying. TAKE THAT, STUPID NAZI!! HA!!!
I do like this game, and I recommend buying it, but I would definitely buy Airattack and Superlaser too or instead for the same price. There are more planes you can play as in this game, but that is it. There are better graphics, more levels, more enemies in Airattack, and more power ups and weapons. I find that Airattack has a bit more than Superlaser, but I still recommend buying all three. Trust me, I have beat all three. For those who want to know how to beat the last boss, you first need to figure out a way to get through everything else with little to no bombs, having at least ten for end boss. It is tough and you will die, but it is the best way. Also focus on destroying any threats, especially gold planes because you need to kill them to get many of the bombs, cannon upgrades, health, and support planes. Do not try to get all the stars and medals, they distract you from the threats. Then, kill the first few turrets in the back of the ship with your guns if it is not too hard. Then when it takes you to the rest of the ship, position yourself in the middle and use all of your bombs ( I am pretty sure I used 12, but you might only need ten.) This wil destroy the ship.
What is with the difficulty on the final boss? I don't know about other people, but I can beat the entire game on hard, but the last boss stops me in my tracks. I can't even beat him on easy, and I used 11 bombs! Yes, 11! And I keep getting stuck on the last little front end part that fires like, 500 rounds per second. It's just too hard with hundreds of spinning bullets on the screen and multiple fighters coming at you from all sides. Again, I'm only speaking for myself, but if a pattern of reviews about the last boss continue, I would reccomend lowering it's health or something.
It was .99 last year and it's free for limited time included new missions and fighters. It's a bit confusing but I think it's worth to be renamed and readvertised. Air Attack seems to have better 3D graphics though.
...on my iPhone 4. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially at this price (i.e., free). It's very well done and has phenomenal graphics. The soundtrack is pretty intense, too. Definitely worth having! I can't wait for the updates with more levels.
Great game. Same night I downloaded I played from 12 am till 6 in the morning. Mad addictive and competitive. U can change the option and play the way u like. I played it on motion I think it is more comfortable. I never left reviews for any apps be4. This game is so good that I had to leave one.
I remember the tilt control in the original, but finger control makes it easier. But the "bullets" are hard to see because of my finger. Cool graphics and game play. Looking forward to the update.
