Limited character set, but a good tool for learning
I'm using this along with other resources in an attempt to self-study Chinese (both speaking and writing). This is a handy app in that it offers clear audio pronunciation of the words, a basic guide and worksheet for writing the characters (including stroke order), and some good basic description of the characters (such as history and evolution, which often is helpful to remember them). My only complaint is that the character set is limited; I would love to have more words! This is a basic set, contains some important first characters but I'm not sure how these characters were chosen.

A comprehensive list of characters that are commonly used. Very helpful for beginners. Interesting history behind each character. Needs to add more characters though. Thanks for this app

This app is fun and easy. I have struggled with learning characters because my program (rosetta stone) didnt show me the Stroke Order, it just showed the character and i wrote it however i wanted, which of course, made it rather confusing. This app does no such thing. it shows the stroke order plus gives a reason for the formation of the character. it may not seem like much, but in 3 days of having the Lite version, i have learned 1-10, and about 6 other characters. I love it. Plus it has someone say the word/character. so you can practice speaking too! Buying the full version now.

Nice app, well presented but ...
The main problem with this app is that it does not promote proper stroke order! Still very useful for the reading/recognition parts.
Dam good
This app organizes the most commonly used Chinese symbols in an orderly, accessible fashion. Though incomplete as far as the voluminous catalog of Chinese symbols is concerned, the method by which this app accomplishes it's purpose is effective and thereby much appreciated.
