Can no longer download without login
The app now forces you to log in before allowing you to download an episode to your phone for offline listening.
The app claims this is necessary so it can “remember how far you have listened”.
There is no technical reason for this. Look all the other apps that do this without forcing you to create an account. (Also, I’m an iOS developer - I know how easy it is to store such data locally on the phone.)
First they removed all the NRK podcasts from the Apple Podcasts app and forced us to use this NRK app. Now they force us to create an account to download in this app. I wonder if next we’ll have to create an account to listen at all?
It doesn’t seem great that the national broadcaster is systematically reducing access to content in this way.
