  • Not all it could be

My honest opinion is that its not worth the money the way it is now. But if the developer tweaked it so you could change/tweak positions in game and also allow arrows for where you need your players to run it would be much better. Also there are a few bugs that cause it to crash which is not ideal in-game.

  • A must have!

I'm not one to take the time to write a review however I had to tell others about this app. If you are a soccer coach or coach more then one team this is a must have. It allows me to set my own formations, rosters, scheduled and game lineups. Once you start the dashboard you can keep stats, time played (in & out) and opponents stats as well. Substitution is a snap.

I had a suggestion sent it in and had a response within a couple of hours. I would hope they add additional items like individual game stats and season total reporting but that will come.

(correction) the app already keeps a running total stats or you can reset it after each game plus with one click email them out right away. My request to the APP maker was to have both running totals and individual game stat reporting.

  • Great App!!!

I love this app and use it at every game!! One request: can you add "own goal" as one of the drop down choices? I end up attributing the goal to my last player that touched it, then forget it was an "own goal". Thank you for your work. It is great!!!
  • Great app

I have tried every soccer coach app in the app store and this is definitely by far the best for managing team rosters and lineups, both for pre-game planning and for in-game substitutions, etc., on the fly. It has helped me with parents and other coaches in showing that the players are getting fair playing time and opportunities. It really helps me do that during the game. And the stats are a big bonus. I agree with other reviewers that it could use some improvements, such as:

Ability to "save" lineups not just "save as". Seems simple but without that feature it is really cumbersome to make changes to existing lineups. You have to save as a new lineup and delete the old lineup. And they can have the same name so it gets confusing.

It would also be good if you could set the background to look like a half field. Other apps do this and it is one of the few features I think they do better.

Another feature that would be good is to be able to indicate a break in quarters. One of the best features in the current version is that it tells you how many times each player has been out. But if the player is out in consecutive quarters it still shows up as being out 1x. Then when parents ask it is hard to rely on the app because they may be right that their kid was out two quarters. Conversely players who are in for consecutive quarters are shown as being in 1x. If you could insert a "break" then the feature that shows how many times a player has been in or out would be a lot clearer and more reliable.

There is also no way to edit players names etc. You have to completely delete the player (losing all the stats and positions in lineups) basically foreclosing any corrections.

It would also be good to be able to enter additional info about players, including their jersey numbers. It would be great if you could have the numbers show up (superimposed on the player) like some other apps do. Seems the soccer ball icon uses real estate on the screen that could be better used showing that kind of valuable info.

Lastly, I have found that if I modify the formations by moving the positions around, then the app loses the links with current lineups. For example, if I choose a formation and set up some lineups using that formation, then I can't really move the formation positions around because the lineups will get all jumbled up.

The above issues are significant but should not deter a coach from getting this app. As I mentioned I've tried them all and this is definitely the best. I hope the developer continues to improve this already terrific app.

    Coach Larry

P.S. I wrote to the developer and he kindly responded that this is a passion of his and most of these suggestions are in the works but progress is slow as he has a demanding day job (understandable, of course). So I wish him luck and will look patiently forward to his next release.

  • Unable to save game details

This would be a great app if it stored statistics by game as well as by player. Also, during a game there is no where to track goals scored by the other team so that you can see what the game score is as you're managing the team on the field.
  • Subs Bug

The main reason I bought this app was for managing subs, straight away there was a bug, I set subs to delayed saved a few line ups for a 6 a side game with 4 subs, there were 4 changes between my first and second line up, however the app only shows one of the line up changes on the commit screen. Not very helpful in managing subs.

  • Best soccer app

I've evaluated several soccer coach apps and this is by far the best one on the AppStore. It allows me to easily plan\execute substitutions, track common stats, take notes- all from a single screen.

    Suggestions for future release:
-Manage more player info (picture and jersey number)
-change formation during game using players on the field (it currently does a random assignment)
-a tabular view (report) of playing time during game
-save changes to an open formation (currently have to "save as" each time)
-track and summarize positions played by each player during game

    Well done!!

  • Great but could be improved

Great app, really useful and my youth teams love the fact they see their names and the formations on the iPad. Doesn't take long to set up the names of the the players or create new formations. I would definitely recommend this app to fellow coaches.

I would however like to have the facility to tweak formations by moving players around without creating new formations. It would also be great if you could draw on arrows etc to demonstrate to the children where you would like them to run etc, hopefully this comes in the next update.

    Many Thanks

  • Unable to save lineups

I like then drag and drop capability. I can move players on and off to gauge the quality of my offense, defense, and reserves.

I typically plan a different lineup for each half, then make substitutions dynamically. If I try to switch the lineup, the app crashes and I lose the entire game and the saved lineups. Every time. Please fix this.

  • Incredibly helpful

I help coach a girls soccer team with 19 players. League rules require each player to play at least 1/2 the game. Without this app I this would be a huge challenge. With this app, it's a breeze. The ability to keep track of other stats is a great bonus. The team plays a modified formation and I was easily able to create a custom formation. I helped out with my other daughter's 7v7 team last weekend as well and had no problem setting up multiple teams, formations, lineups and schedules. This is a fantastic game time app and I would recommend that every coach buy it today!
