  • Best and most flexible and complete app

Great app! Would love it on my Apple watch. That would be awesome.
I am going to show, and share with, my PT therapist this app. I have ten routines, and this app makes it so much easier and likely that I will do the routines. I will recommend she create and share routines with all her clients.
A bit complicated, but by no means impossible. My routines are complicated and this app simplifies and makes it more likely that I will do them. One review on lite version INCORRECTLY says longest routine is 60 seconds.
Try the lite version to see how good this app is. Lite limits to 3 exercises, otherwise the same.

  • Great App for PT

Exactly what I was looking for as I started doing PT for my shoulder after surgery. After physical therapy, I intend to continue using this app at the gym - will be very useful to organize and follow my routine. Only critique I have is that it's not the easiest to learn how to use, but that's because it has so many great and useful options. I followed the examples & experimented, and figured it out pretty quick.

  • A fantastic way to do those PT exercises at home.

The PT Timer app is wonderful! You can zone out and let it prompt you to do your exercises, reps, rests, etc. instead of trying to watch a clock, count seconds and keep track of where you are in the sequence. Equally important, when I initially had a problem programing my workout and asked a question via e-mail, the response was almost immediate and personal and set me straight on how to proceed. What a bargain and a responsive company to boot!

  • Exactly what I need to stay on track

It's surprisingly hard to find an app that fills this niche, but this app does it perfectly. I can easily define exercises in the app with the duration and repetition my therapist prescribed, with text descriptions and photo illustrations, then group the exercises into a tag (e.g. "PT Week 1"), and schedule it to repeat on the prescribed schedule (e.g. Twice a day).

At exercise time, it gives me voice prompts along with timing to prepare for each other exercise, start, switch sides, rest, etc. I can easily pause it to review the exercise description and illustration, and when each exercise completes, I can mark how hard it was. All this is then tracked over time, and I can export it all as a CSV for my own analysis later.

Oh, and of course, I can play music in the background. And since this is all on my phone, I can stop and do my PT exercises at any place and time with the same level of comfort and convenience.

  • But how do I use it?

Just downloaded the app because it got such great reviews but I can't seem to get it started. I open it up and get a bunch of slides that tell what's what but I can't seem to get anywhere else like setting up a program. What am I missing?
  • They thought of everything!

Bravo! Whoever made this clearly spent a lot of time thinking it through b/c it has every feature you could ever need! I use it for stretching my low back and the thing I love is that I can just press play on my "combo"(basically a playlist of all my stretches) and it takes me through all of my stretches with audio cues and I don't even have to look at it. You can customize the overall length of time, the time between reps and time for resting, the type of cues to tell you what to do (you can even record your own voice announcing the name of the stretch), whether or not to have it switch sides, how many reps, how many sets, and you can even upload pictures of your stretches in case you can't remember what to do. This app is absolutely worth the price and has made doing my stretches so much easier!

  • For real physical therapy patients

This app is exactly what you need if you have been to a physical therapist and been given a customized list of exercises to perform. It lets you enter your prescribed exercises with hold times, side switching, and repetitions, gives you a timer and customizable countdown as you do them, and tracks what you've done each day. You'd think this would be something a dozen apps would be competing to offer, but no, this is the one. If this is what you need, congrats, you weeded through all of the not-actually-therapy apps and found it!

  • great app, but one key feature missing

Love this app, use it twice a day (or nearly), every day. But it's missing one key feature that makes me rate it 4 stars rather than 5... My PT has given me a set of exercises to do each day ... Each one to be done for 15-30 seconds, 2-3 times each morning and evening. So I have set up variants of Exercise 1 which has 2 reps, each 15 seconds, and another which has 3 reps, each 30 seconds ... Now I want to create an "uber-Exercise 1" which says I can do EITHER Variant 1 or Variant 2 ... EITHER variant will give me credit for that exercise.

I think this is a very common pattern for PT exercises... I've had various such assigned over the years and they all have this pattern: Exercise 1 AND Exercise 2 AND ...
where each Exercise has multiple variants ..

So would like to have a feature where I can specify a ROUTINE which consists of the "AND" of all the different exercises, but for each exercise, I can do variant 1 OR variant 2 OR variant 3 ... etc.

That way, the reporting would be SUPER useful.. as it is now, not so great ...

  • PT remembers my exercises for me

I looked at nearly a dozen apps hoping to find one that would guide my through the exercises prescribed by my physical therapist. I looked at habit forming apps and workout apps. I am very glad I happened on PT Timer. After finding PT Timer, I have tried to stay alert to its competition; however, to date I have not found anything as good.

I particularly like that it keeps count of reps and sets for me. Once I have all the routines tweaked in the app, I do not have to remember what I am supposed to do. I look at the workout tab and it tells me what is available to do, what is suggested, what I have skipped. I do what I can to turn red arrows to green check marks with the time available. If I have some time during the day that I can use doing my stretches and exercises, I open the app, select a routine, and the app tells me what to do and counts for me.

At the end of the day, I can check to see what remains undone and finish them off.

I would like to have stronger reporting, but I have not found anything better for leading me through my routines.

I have written the develop and always received help within 12 hours.

  • Works great!

This app works really well for my physical therapy sessions. I found it easy to program & use. Saves a ton of guesswork and clock watching.
