The best of the baby name apps I've found so far. Easy to search with heaps of options in the free version. Loses one star for app freezing and ad banners descending late when selecting a fave which means I am redirected to something I don't want!Liberty07

Quick & Dirty
The app is OK to brainstorm names, and it is free. The interface is weird (e.g. going to the search *section* doesn't display anything until you touch a search *button*) but you get used it to it.
But the advertising is ridiculously over-the top. Rotating frequently and appearing *just* next to the buttons so that a careless tap will invoke an ad. Honestly, you eventually tune it out, which can't serve the advertisers very well, so "less" would be better for all parties.
Another concern is misspellings of some names: for example, "Vsndyke" for "Vandyke". That's an obvious one, but it lowers my confidence if I were to choose a name that were more subtly misspelled: would I accidentally name my son something profane by substituting the wrong vowel?
So, while decent for exploring and brainstorming, if you want to actually PICK a name, you should at least check it (extensively) elsewhere after trying this app.Show lessSkooter42
Best free baby name app I've found so far!
I've downloaded a half-dozen apps like this and most are just plain poorly done. This one is really nice, and seems to have far more names and far better info than the others. It's polished, well organized and relatively easy to search and browse.
I will still look at some other apps but this one has me ready to upgrade to the premium version for the extra features!Show lesssscaffidi
Best free baby names app I've found
I've installed several free baby names apps, and most are crippled - won't give you meanings or won't let you save a list. This app does both, and has a good selection of names. Maybe if I pay for one of the others, it would beat this one, but for free, this is my favorite!!

Close but no cigar! Search by origin started crashing the 'search' 5 minutes ago, right before being asked to review...bad timing, but it's annoying! Otherwise, this would have got another star, loads better than many of the pay for apps.Dad to beee
Much improvement but a good app
The first star was taken off because it keeps on crashing. The second star because the ads were annoying and interfered with my enjoyment of the product. It kept on freezing when I'd come back to it after exiting. It would be more user friendly to have male/female separation buttons within the origins file. Great app, lots of information, but freezes too much and too many ads.Show lessAralcClaire10
