No Internet Means Lost Recordings

Update: Unfortunately I have to down rank this, as it has a rather fatal flaw. If you are lacking a sufficient internet connection at the time that a recording stops, your recording goes into oblivion. You get an error message, and it makes no attempt to re-upload the file once you have a connection. This is a severe problem, and it has caused me to lose critical conversations entirely.

Like the app. Please add support (if possible) for not showing the glowing red bar whenever recording is taking place. If that's not doable, can you please make it so that it doesn't say "recording" in the bar on the iPad?

Note to self: perfect voice memos ξ€Ό

This app is nearly perfect--it can be set to start recording on launch, and automagically saves your voice memos to dropbox. I use it to take down notes when driving in the car, like if I hear something on the radio I want to remember. I can easily review and transcribe the notes later at my computer. This was laborious with the built-in voice recorder I was using before.

Hard to criticise something that just works...

If you need one-click voice memos sent to dropbox just buy it...

Simple, almost perfect

For my needs -- recording on-street interviews and getting them back to my radio station fast -- this just couldn't be easier. Push the red button to record, push Stop when you're done, and that's it, the file is on its way.

It's slightly bothersome that you can't name the file, that it's just a bunch of numbers, but I'm glad to put up with that with everything else about this app just being so simple and reliable. I'm sure this will be addressed in an upgrade, along with options for higher recording quality (not to criticize the current sound quality -- it's just fine for spoken word work).

Love it

So quick and easy to use. Please add lossless WAV or ALAC support!

Brilliant!

What a brilliant idea, with a brilliantly simple execution! I love it.

This app has improved my audio diary ten-fold. Every file uploads to Dropbox immediately (as long as I'm in a WiFi zone), and that's a great assurance that I won't lose any information. Within seconds, each voice file shows up on my computer (if it's turned on, of course). And within minutes the voice files are further backed up on my Carbonite account. I was camping last weekend, and just because I sat briefly on the steps of a WiFi-enabled convenience store, my voice files were (within minutes) stored on Dropbox, my computer, and Carbonite.

It might not be for everybody (e.g. the file names are time-date stamps only), but it's definitely for ME. Also, excellent recording quality. (An earlier version used a lower bit rate, which made the audio quality not so good. But that's been worked out.) Another great feature (maybe just for ME, again) is the BIG RED BUTTON. I love the simplicity of it.

Excellent tool

Does exactly what it says. Nice clean, simple and modern interface. Great personal and business tool that's a clear winner because it syncs beautifully to Dropbox

DropVox Rocks...

Refreshingly simple. Fast upload, quality sound, seamless linking with Dropbox. Would like option of naming file before upload but strongly recommend.

Good start. Needs playback and labels

This app does two things: records a sound clip and uploads it to drop box. Does this well.

But then you have this random file with no context in your dropbox. Need some way of labeling or naming the file.

Also, at minimum needs to be able to play back the clip you just recorded. (Though it would be nice if you could also play back any m4a's in the folder)

Lots of potential, easy to use

Great app, very efficient and simple. Would be great to be able to browse/delete and play previous memos from within the app!
