App is showing its age
It pains me to say because in the past ING has been an awesome bank with great customer service. ING was once the first branch less/online banks to institute the newest features & had the lowest fees & hurdles etc. but that’s now dwindling. Many other banks have. Can create a PayID but have no way of seeing what yours is after that?? Hasnt taken advantage of open banking yet like seeing info from your other banks. Have to do a dance & pat your head & several other things to qualify for better fees, international transactions etc. I’ve slowly been transferring my banking to other banks/apps with more features etc. Is ING winding down its consumer banking? You don’t really see or hear of it anywhere anymore & most people I know using it are legacy users not new recruits

More useful features
Be able settle Orange Credit Card monthly outstanding or minimum balance easily from with the app.
I hate this bank
They’ve removed the balance amount from the app only to show the amount available (in small letters) just to encourage everyone to think they have money available to borrow. Crooks, avoid ING
Reliable 💪 ❤️ - Ideas for extras 🤞
Used this app for years now and unlike many others it just seems to work and provides useful functionality and a pretty good interface. What I would like most though in any type of banking app is the ability to add a note and check-off items. As a process, I check receipts against the bank statement, often this enough and I just want to check them off before I throw the receipt away. In the app this could be a check box or it could simply be the line could be highlighted - back ground or font a different colour. Wouldn't want to be able to check or uncheck by accident when scrolling though. The other thing, is sometimes the transaction doesn't provide useful information, like the name of the company is bot the well known trading name. It would be nice to associate a trading name to these places. Lastly, and in the same vain - it would be good to add a note to a transaction to aid in remembering what it was for. A picture of the receipt would be another method. Keep up the great work ING (and the developer!) been really happy with banking life since I swapped over. 👍
Update : Feb/Mar24 - frigging annoying details check failed because 'PO Box' is not 'P.o. Box' - Grrr, especially when that is how the auto-populate returns the address!!!

Response from developer
Thanks for this feedback! We will feed it back to our product teams.
Latest version has some bugs
I’ve been with ING for the better part of 15 years, given it’s 100% online (no bricks and mortar) it’s done well with its tech over that time.
The latest version of the app has some bugs though - after making a “pay anyone” payment, the accounts don’t automatically refresh, so it doesn’t show the funds have left your account, and your balance isn’t updated, without a manual refresh (this is new, as it has always refreshed after any payment was made), this may cause users to pay twice, before realising they need to manually refresh the account by pulling down on the account screen.
Just small things that need to be tested properly before releasing a new version into production.

New colour scheme is terrible, too bright
Even in dark mode all the white is too bright in the latest (forced) update - please revert!
Otherwise continues to be good functional app.

excellent app
don't buy the 2 star reviews. this is an excellent app. ing have quite good tech. both mobile and desktop apps have been designed for users. compare to the shocking citibank offerings
All round solid app, with minor room for improvement
I have no complaints about this app. It is reliable, user friendly and straightforward.
If I could add one feature though, it would be the ability to claim a transaction amount from a joined account in a simple way. For example, press and hold or swipe on a transaction would bring up an option to reimburse, where you can select the account you wish to transfer from. It’s not a huge deal, but when you have to manually transfer many transactions and remember details like the exact amount, vendor name etc, it does become tiresome very quickly. This feature would be such a handy upgrade if implemented.

Still offers no alternative to SMS
While the iPad app programming is excellent, ING has discontinued the little PIN generator devices that one used to be able to use for verifying transactions while overseas or out of mobile range in Australia. Now you HAVE to have your Australian SÍM with you and it HAS to have a connection. This is unbelievably frustrating if you want to use your account overseas or online eg. Greenland. I’ve moved most of my banking to N26 which uses the app (over wifi) to authorise online transactions instead of a phone connection. Much safer (fingerprint activated) and vastly more convenient. ING managers apparently consider NZ as the most exotic international destination they’d ever travel to, and/or never venture beyond mobile service areas in Oz themselves.
Update February 2021: ING just sent out an email saying that I needed to update my “know your customer“ details on the left-hand side menu. Log into the iOS APP it says then “ Go to the menu on the left and click My Profile > Citizenship, Residency and Income l” However there is no such menu in the latest version. Waste of time!

Improvement suggestion
Great app, great bank.
I have an issue when using Apple Pay as I have 2 orange everyday accounts and I can’t tell the difference between the 2 cards. Obviously the last 4 digits show up but I can never remember which is which and half the time I then need to transfer funds post purchase or re-tap using the other account.
Can you either add the option of adding a nickname to the card or have different card option.
Before updating phones my last phone had two different cards as one I had for a while and the other must have been added after an app update. But since updating phones they are now the same and confusing.
Please help!!!
