Reviews of TalkingAlarm nightstand alarm

  • Thank you

I recently (within the last week) rated this app a 1. Although I don’t see my rating I did say I’d give it a higher rating if they can tell me how to set it up. Well little did I know that it had to be in a vertical position in order for the settings to appear ( it’s on my iPad not my phone). Thanks to the developer I’ve been able to use the app for the first time since downloading it about 6 months ago. I set the alarm for my grandson (who sleeps very heavy). All other alarm clocks he’s sleep right through them BUT the “Talking Alarm” actually worked and woke him up. And he loves it. I shared it with my daughter in law to use at home also. Thank you!

Hi MsTonda- You can set the alarm (and do many other things) by tapping the Settings icon - the 3 bars in the lower right corner of the clock screen (make sure your iPad is in the upright/portrait orientation, not sideways). Then tap "Add alarm". Please email me at support@fortuisoft.com if I can be of further help. Thanks, Mark

LOVE this app! 🤩 Why? Because of the live background cameras from Monterey Bay Aquarium and the San Diego Zoo, that it looks like an actual clock on your phone, it’s soothing to have a relaxing nightlight at night, it’s fully customizable (speak voices, font colors, clock styles and more), it has sooooooo many options, the speak feature is awesome, and lastly, it’s totally affordable. I have already showed my coworkers this amazing app and shared it with them. There is something so relaxing about sitting at my desk at work and seeing live feeds of the fishies and animals. It gives me the feels.

The developer seems to be a very thorough and detailed which is appreciated. 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽👌🏽🙌🏽

I would highly recommend this app. As soon as my trial is over, I’m purchasing the forever ad-free version.
  • Periodic time doesn’t speak over podcast app

I want an app that will speak the time every 5 minutes while I’m listening to a long podcast and working in my garden. It should work the way it does when I get a phone call — automatically pause the podcast briefly (to state the time) and automatically resume the podcast after (as it would if I declined the phone call). I get lost in gardening and forget to check the time. Plus with gloves on that cover my wrists, I can’t easily look at a watch. “Periodic time” option here seemed ideal but it only works when the app is in the foreground AND it being in the foreground stops the playback of the podcast. From hints in the FAQ I suspect this is because of iOS rules, so it’s not the developer’s fault, though.

One more thing: sending feedback from
the app is disabled saying I don’t have email on my phone. I use the Gmail app. Is that also a problem caused by iOS? I would have loved to contact the developer, who seems super helpful and engaged per reviews.

    Developer Response

Hi Podcast Princess- You are correct that TalkingAlarm must run in the foreground, and so when it speaks it will shut down other audio. Please check out TalkingTime which does not need to run in the foreground. However, it announces the time every 15 minutes so it's not exactly what you want. You are also correct about email. TalkingAlarm can only send email using iOS mail. You can contact me directly outside of the app at support@fortuisoft.com. I hope that helps! Thanks, Mark
