  • Difficulties?

Is anyone else having difficulties getting on with the game and moving forward with the full version? Cause I am completely lost and have no clue what else to do..
  • Great game, needs suspend save

Only thing stopping a 5/5 is lack of suspend saves making this not so portable friendly, a big issue on an iOS app
  • A portable action adventure unlike anything else on iOS!

Although the ideal platform of choice is the ds, having access to an even more accessible port of this incredible gaming experience is pure bliss. Everything is still in there and the best part is, WayForward really designed the iOS controls nicely which performs better than most other action adventure games I've played on my iphone. WayForward certainly got it right and this Shantae's adventure is not to be missed! Its a great price for such a gem too, for me this was a day one purchase as soon as I heard it was coming to iOS. Please try it, I think most will really love this game!

  • I Dream of Genie!

Shantae is the princess of platformers. Controls are tight, the art is gorgeous and Shantae herself is tight AND gorgeous! This sprawling adventure plays like the greatest games of yesteryear scratching the itch left by the likes of Metroid and Wonderboy. Bliss!
  • Fantastic

This game looks and plays fantastic on my iPhone 4S. The game's graphics could use a refresh from the DSiWare release, but otherwise a fantastic game! I had a bit of trouble upgrading to the Full Version, but I was able to eventually. The Virtual D-Pad works fantastic! Get the full version now while it's still $2.99 (a steal!).

  • Forget original Shantae iOS...

Where's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night!? Yes, I know the Dpad is hard to adjust, but this game at least proves that the iPhone has room for more apps with this style of gameplay (as long as the controlls are adjusted).

Now, about Shantae: Risky's Revenge (I keep thinking of that "Custard's Revenge" guarbage every time I hear the title, I don't know, "Risky" sounds too similar). It is short,... too short... Just two to three hours of gameplay. You explore, turn into animals, convert enemies into money, and then kick Risky's gonads at the end. Its only difficult when you don't upgrade you're weapons and health, you will need a walkthrough in case you're too stupid to fined out what you need to do (like me), otherwise, it's an easy game.

Its a decent game, but I would have given this four stars had I not played Symphony of the Night on the PSP Dracula X Chronicles (you unlock it during gameplay).

  • Awesome game!

Cool game reminds me if the best PSX games I played back in the days :-)
  • disappointing.

I was very excited to see Shantae again, but these graphics don't do her beautiful curves any justice.

The levels and sprites look painfully low-res and blurry on an iPad, and the super-crisp new HUD and lovely new character overlay images only serve to highlight how truly stunning this game could have looked.

The game is playable enough with the onscreen d-pad (probably one of the better ones i've used). The sound effects are pretty good and the music is excellent and well suited to the game.

I just wish the publisher had more faith in the project and had gone for a full high-res makeover rather than what amounts to a Nintendo DS game running inside a high-res picture frame.

One of these days, Shantae will get the game she deserves.

  • Keep the DS ports coming!

At a fraction of the price of it's DS counterpart this is bargain! Metroidvania style platformer love it!!
  • Good play

Well, after some truble with in-game purchase to unlock all levels, the game is very playable. I find that the controls and in particular the left and right bar is taking to much away from the actual play-screen. However, the game fantastic and great to see that it has been ported to iOS. I hope that Nintendo wakes up soon and releases some mario games. Wayforward has been porting games to Nintendo for a very lomg time, and finally now to iOS.
I give the game 4 Stars
