Misleading Premium Claims

Before going Premium like I foolishly did, read this:

. Can't save, rename or make notes against a waypoint A waypoint only forces a deviation to the route line, can't do anything else with it. Can't export them either.

. Collections are only one level deep. Can't create for instance USA top level then various States under that. Every route in the entire country will be in the top level. Can't sort it either.

. Nothing works offline. Even a change to a route won't recalculate. And your saved Collections won't appear either.

. World wide maps is misleading. No way to download a region before going there unless you have already saved a route in that area.

App looks pretty, and routing function is beautiful in execution. Extremely limited usefulness in the real world though.

I was completely fooled by advertising and wasted $100. Uninstalled.

Your choice.

Thank you for your kind feedback, we are sorry to hear you are unhappy with our product and your purchase! We do not offer offline planning, additional features for waypoints or levels within a Collection, so all of these points I have forwarded as feedback internally to our product team, for consideration during the planning of future development. Once you are offline, you can access all the Tours that you have made available offline within your profile under "planned", to start a navigation. While the World Pack unlocks all Regions that are available within komoot, there are some countries where you currently cannot access any Regions for pure recordings, yet, but you can still use the navigation on all of your planned Tours there. All Regions that are available for download within our product, can be called up by entering a city in the search field. You can for example download the Regions for Berlin, Paris, New York City without even being on the continent, you do not have to go there. You do however only need to download Regions, when you plan to start a pure recoding and look at the map for orientation. When you have a Tour planned, you only download the Tour, not the Region. If you are still absolutely unhappy with your purchase, you can contact our customer support about a refund if you purchased through our website - or the Apple support if you purchased through the iOS app on your phone.

Awesome app for routing in SEA!

Haven’t really used the app locally (NJ USA) but it’s been great routing in SEA, specifically Thailand and Laos. The only downside is occasionally it will route me through a newer reservoir, but I believe that should be better now that there is satellite view to help double check the route. I’ve planned about 2000 miles about 45 routes and only had to detour 4x for impassible sections, I say that isn’t bad. All my riding has been “touring” while riding a gravel bike, komoot has definitely taken me on stuff that would not be appropriate for a road bike and pushing the limits of what a lot of my gravel friends would want to ride, but for me it’s the perfect amount of adventure!

Good maps, good route system

Easy to get routes off iCloud and then navigate, which is what I need However the map navigation system is not as easy as turn by turn, and this is especially an issue for smaller screen devices. Also seems good for app internal nav, but I haven’t gotten lost to need it yet so can’t comment specifically. The font can be a bit small on a mobile device even when zooming in, so a possible issue if you have old eyes.

98% great

An excellent way to plan bike rides and especially different forms of riding, such as gravel compared to road or touring. Sometimes the audio instructions get confused on paths when there are multiple options in the immediate vicinity, but using turn by turn text instructions gets around this tiny issue. Otherwise, the app is brilliant, especially for planning long rides into areas you don't know. 👌

Great app but needs more setting options for Route planning

I would love to be able to tell the app to generate a route with less traffic even though it would end up being slightly longer or I had to walk short sections. A set of sliders to fine tune would be awesome.

Harder to get rid of than Herpes

I’ve been a heavy user of activity tracking and data apps for years as a competitive cyclist, I have used nearly all of them. This is an awful app that does not cater for just simple exercise walking, does not integrate with Health or Watch. Opens an account, simply accepted by a click, trusting Apple protocols on an open phone with face recognition and other securities.
But try to delete your account, it wants emails and passwords and a DNA sample from your dead relatives.
Can’t get it off my phone quick enough.
If only Apple would interface with Garmin Connect.

We are very sorry to hear you are not satisfied with our product. If you want to give it another shot, we do have a komoot app for the Apple Watch (https://support.komoot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023107432) and also offer a connection to Apple Health, that you can simply activate in the settings of our iOS App. If you need any help with that, our support is always available to you under support.komoot.com . If you still wish to delete your komoot profile, this can also be done directly in the App. Here is how it works: Go to your profile. Tap the gear icon at the top to open the settings. Select Profile Information. Scroll down and click "Delete account" To confirm the deletion of your account, enter your password again. Clicking on "Delete account" will delete your account with all associated data. Please note that the deleted data cannot be recovered.

When it works it’s great

Sometimes it gets confused and tells me to turn one way then u turn where I could have just made a left or right in the first place Done not always communicate with the Garmin edge 1030 plus. I know it’s the free version but if this is free it’s not making want to spend more for features when the most basic requirement of a map is to give directions.

Please make sure that the option "exact location" is activated in the settings on your iPhone under komoot > location. If this is disabled, we may only determine your approximate location and display an area in a red circle where you are approximately located. Please restart your iPhone. This usually fixes GPS problems the fastest way, because the GPS chip will also be restarted. You can also try recalibrating the compass, this also helps with the correct definition of your location. If you're experiencing compatibility issues with your Garmin Edge 1030 Plus, we'd like to assist. Please reach out to our support so we can better understand and help resolve any concerns.

Free “region” is not defined nor is it usable

I like a lot about this and will probably use it, however… there seems to be a promotion to unlock a “region” for free, but I cant find any map or listing of regions I can unlock… and when I try to use the search for a location to set a region to unlock… the only option seems to be to buy all the regions.

Couldnt find any UI to contact support, nothing in the help/support/faq to answer my query.

If this is your app, contact me and tell me wth is going on with your promotion.

Data Collection

The app appears to be well-designed for the most part and fairly user-friendly. The reason I gave it a 3-star rating is because of the following:

1. I got the app specifically because I wanted to use it on my Apple Watch Ultra. I go for long bike rides and don’t take my phone since my Apple Watch is cell-enabled. Unfortunately, the first time I went for a bike ride, the Komoot app on my watch said it was no longer connected to my phone and couldn’t work.

2. I didn’t see anywhere in the settings the option to switch from Imperial to Metric, or vice versa. So, I assume it automatically applies the appropriate unit of measure depending on the region the user is located in. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to use the app (see #1, above) so don’t know if it would have applied Imperial units of measure since I am in the US.

3. When signing up, you have the option to not receive email promotions, so I made sure I did not check the box allowing for email promotions. Nevertheless, as soon as I created a user account to use the app…voila! Two promotional emails appeared in my inbox, and over the next 12 hours I received two more. Coupled with the fact that creating a user account required I cough-up a lot of information about myself, I’m now thinking these guys have already sold all of my information to other companies. For this reason alone, I immediately off-loaded the app from my devices and would never use it again.

Great app but didn’t work for me for 2 reasons

Great app but I ended up having to ditch it for 2 reasons:
1) can’t use your Apple Watch independently. This feature is “in the works” but it could be a while. Because of this, I have to take both my Apple Watch and iPhone, which is redundant and heavy.
2) you can’t use voice navigation alone to navigate routes. Half a dozen times I’ve been told to take a left 50 feet from the turn on a 3 Lane Highway. That’s very dangerous and frustrating. They could fix this with giving directions farther in advance.
Aside from those two things, it’s a solid app.
