  • Bad digital distortion on iPad Pro

    Hello,

Running Scythe on iPad Pro 11 inch, iOS 13. There is a noticeable digital distortion on all patches. Almost sounds like when a DAW is running audio at the incorrect sample rate.
Ran an older iPad Air 2 running iOS 13.5.1 and it was fine, so this appears to be a hardware specific issue.
  • Sleeper Hit

Someone else mentioned this was a sleeper. It sure is.

So much of a sleeper that another dev named their app “Scythe Synth” a couple of years ago. I’m going to guess they did that without knowing there was already an app in the App Store called “Scythe” (that also happens to be a synth!)

Shouldn’t that be against the rules though? I own the other one and it’s cool too, just don’t dig having two apps with the same name that are both instruments - ya know? But I digress.

While researching the release dates of both apps mentioned above, I saw that this thing has been out for 8 years?! That is simply astounding. This app has excellent sounds and some of the features like being able to modulate/record are unique still to this day.

My biggest question is - why have the devs not made another synth since this came out? We’d love another offering from you guys. I’m sure you have a market!

    Great job!

  • Great synth!

Tough sounding, in a good way. The bend feature can create complex and unique modulations very easily. Would like to see more presets added though.
  • Awesome synth

Just give it a try. The sounds you can get out of this app are amazing, and for this price... come on give yourself a treat.
  • This is a sleeper hit!

Not sure why this synth seems to miss out on reviews and blogs... The bend modulation record function alone is worth the price of admission. Very novel way to mod and easier to set up than LFO’s or mod matrix’s.

Would love to see more developed on it... maybe IAP to allow bend modulation to loop or to allow bend to be temp synced to Link?

For free, this is a no brainer

  • Amazing sounds!

Just pressed a few keys using a couple of the samples available—great synth effects and sounds! Look forward to using it more and incorporating it with other apps!
  • Interesting sounds; Keyboard Bug

I just started testing this synth, and i liked the very first preset... and then found a weird delay when touching the lower portion of the on-screen keyboard keys. What's this all about? Very awkward. I also managed to trigger keyboard sizing while playing with multiple fingers, despite the keyboard lock being on. Couldn't reproduce immediately after it happened.

Seems a neat synth for harsh noises and synth FX stabs. The Random button is something that all synths should have, but don't. In this case, Scythe has it, but it's too extreme. The randomization range should be controllable. As is, the Random button makes lots of presets of crazy noise, but nothing musical.

  • Good Synth

No idea why this is free, I would have paid if I knew about it. Just want to say thanks to the developer. Found through appshopper since it was marked down.
  • Awesome!

Update: Nice to see the recent updates! This is one of my favorite synths. Host it in AUM and drive it with the Bram Bos sequencer. Very cool!

Just hitting random and tweaking will give you some great sounds you've never heard before. Just needs a way to choose the MIDI channel it responds on. Otherwise, I love it!

What is going on with these app guys that just let their stuff go? Christo
