Friendly and helpful

Having been connected with the Ulster Bank for nearly 40 years, I can say that in all these years the friendly staff have been very helpful, understanding and I would like to thank the staff that, even though they has changed over the years, the service and help have stayed the same.

Feature suggestion

I'd like a feature to automatically move any balance over a certain limit into my savings account at the end of the month. For instance I might decide that I need £2000 credit in my current account at the start of the month to cover all my expenses. What ever amount over £2000 that is in my account at the end of the previous month would be moved into my savings account. Thanks

Approval tweak required…

Generally a very good app. Only slight annoyance is when you log into the app approve a request i.e you approve the amount within the app, it still shows the ‘bell’ notification alert to approve the spend. Once you have approved the spend request with the app, surely it should automatically clear the ‘bell’ alert notification…instead it shows a live alert, even though you have approved the spend request.

I love Ulster bank

Iv been with Ulster bank for over 20 years now and it keeps getting better the app is fantastic so many features that help me everyday quick easy yet secure yet very secure transfers and I know I’m always protected , my husband is with a different bank and I keep telling him to change he can’t do half the things I can on my Ulster bank app 💜

Life changing

Having the Ulster bank app has changed the way I manage everything in my life. I save better as it’s an instant transfer. I pay bills faster. I view my daily transactions keeping better traceability. I can pay or transfer money so quickly. I can check my direct debts amount dates etc. So easy to use. I simply love the app. It’s made life so much easier.

Fantastic

What can I say it was so easy to open my Saving Account
I walked into my local branch and was met by a gentleman that worked within the bank I said what I wanted to do and straight away he asked me to follow him and we sat down and he worked everything out for me my savings account was open within 30 minutes of me walking in to the branch
Plus I also was advised if there was anything wrong to come back in
Well nothing as gone wrong
Iv waited untill now to transfer some money from one account to my saving account and that was so easy step by step so easy to follow

Unable to use a password manager

I use a password manager, 1Password, to securely store complex unique passwords for every site and app I use. Unfortunately it’s nigh on impossible to use the banking app with one. It asks for individual characters from the password - fine - but if I swap to my password manager to look up my password and find the character it wants, swapping back to the Ulster Bank app resets the flow and I have to enter my customer number again, and am just prompted for more password letters.

Very frustrating. This could be solved by not resetting the login flow when swapping back - or allowing FaceID enrollment during app setup (or perhaps making it more obvious when you are there!)

Not so secure, security measures

I am really starting to HATE this app. I know we all need security measures in place, but with Apple having FaceID, which is very reliable, this app also seems to find the need to add additional, unnessary, measures as well.

Having to look at an image of yourself, get it in frame, and blink, to ensure that you're actually alive is infurating. Can't make up it's mind what it needs and flashes messages at you in a stream of confusion.

You must be in good light, wearing glasses throws it off. If you're NOT in good lighting and you have no way to get any at the time, then you're out of luck. Also it seems to crash every so often when it gets really confused, needing to quit the app and reenter it. I've seen AI use techniques to pull a face image in from the web, i.e. Facebook, and do surround and blink tests fooling the test system, even faking blood flow in the face.

If I've already verified myself with FaceID, no need to rely on other not so secure measures.

Fix it, remove it or give the user to option to add/remove additional security features.

I want to give a big thank you to the manageress of Ulster bank Limavady who knew that I was afraid and wary of any on line banking. She saw that I was in the bank in person three to four times per week so she took time out of her no doubt busy day and showed me the benefits of on line banking. She answered any queries that I had and put any fears that I had at ease. A big thank you to Judith, a fantastic advert for your bank.

Blink and you’ll miss it!

Most aspects of the app are good, and a million miles away from the dreadful service in Ulster Bank’s few remaining branches (on the rare occasions they’re open), but the transaction verification process in this app is really poor.
One has to turn the iPad to portrait format in order to get the camera to verify your face and it seems to have problems with this, only showing a quarter of the screen. After a few attempts it works properly but one can easily spend five mins or more blinking at the camera to confirm the transaction. It’s a poor method of verification because it rarely works properly.
