Garbage

Well that’s pretty wonderful how I, living in America and having a job in IT here, just flunked the initial test in this app with my C1/C2. Actually I downloaded bc I thought it was a dictionary. Anyway, this app offers several totally incorrect translations right from the first start. What a garbage geez man do you even know English yourself?

I am learning new words

It challenges me to remember words I have learned

Confusing, cluttered UI, everything locked behind pro

It’s hard to even know what is free and what isn’t, because every click opens a pop-up ad trying to sell you pro. Nothing is labeled well, and there is junk everywhere on the screen. Pro might be useful, but I will not take a risk signing up for a free trial on an app that is already confusing and difficult. If they did it like other apps, where they just provided value without constant pop-ups and paywalls making it essentially useless, I would be more likely to get hooked on the good content and want to pay for more (as I have with other language apps). There is too much competition in this space to expect people to sign up before trying actual content.

Pro features disappeared

For some reason the app stopped working. After I deleted it and installed again the pro features I payed for before have disappeared. Do not know how to restore it now.

Hi, Please do not hesitate to contact us at email hello@redict.app.

Needs improvement, but it fits my learning style

Duo does almost nothing for me and I’ve tried many other apps. Russian is a very neglected language, so it’s hard to find good tools to learn it when so few people have this goal. So far, I like this style much better than others I’ve tried and the repetition of just a few words is easier than sentences because you can solidify those words in your mind rather than being distracted by an absurd story or cartoons/graphics. When I was studying in school, flash cards worked well for me, and this is quite similar without having to write them out myself. At the same time, that exercise is still useful because it’s proven writing these things by hand is very good for memory. One reason I’m not totally thrilled with this app is because the English needs some work. It’s using British/Old English which isn’t common to our everyday life. This makes it difficult at times to understand what the Russian means. For example “ere” is not a word anyone uses so relating it to «До» is ridiculous. До means ‘until’ and that’s the word all English speakers use. I would like them to fix that for sure. When you first open the app and it asks initial questions about what words you know, it says “What does the “Against” mean?” which is wrong. It should just say “What Russian word means “Against”?” Or “What is “Against” in Russian?” Another challenge is that the audio for these words is a computer voice and some words are not spoken clearly. It’s also missing the etymology of the words which is very helpful in remembering the meaning of a word, especially when it combines root words. This app simply uses an existing dictionary which I already have access to rather than giving practical understanding. These mistakes seem to indicate the author doesn’t speak English. I definitely wouldn’t recommend using it to learn English. I’m struggling to justify the cost of the annual subscription because of these problems, so I may just use paper and practice speaking with my Ukrainian friends.

The Support team, The UI, The Structure of the Course

This is my favorite iPhone app by far. I’m addicted to it. Its exceptional UI doesn’t attempt to trick me into learning with a dopamine hit. Where most language apps try to offer you a trip to a candy store, this is a trip to the gym. You feel like you accomplished something at the end of a study session.

My app didn’t work after an update. I emailed support and they responded to me within minutes. What’s more, the email felt so genuine—like it was written by an actual person, rather than a computer. I love this app. I hope that its creators become very wealthy, and that they, their friends, and their families are blessed.

My app hasn’t worked since the update

I use this app daily and have for months, but it hasn’t worked since the update 1 day ago. I’ll certainly update my review to five stars after this is fixed, but I wasn’t sure how else to contact the developers about this.

I am upset that I’ll lose my streak. I’m working on mastery of the A1 Vocabulary!

Please update the application to the latest version.

The best app

I use this app as a dictionary and for reading books.
And developers respond to my problems quickly.
I only wish the dictionary would be more rich

It’s good!

I’m re-learning Russian as I have lost a lot since I started years ago. I’m still figuring this app out but I just got the pro version so I could read books.

I assumed it would give an option to read books in Russian with helpful English translations when needed. It doesn’t look like that’s an option right now.

Outside of that, it’s very helpful especially as I need to up my vocabulary!

Hello, There are only English books in the online catalog at the moment. You can add your books in ePub or PDF formats. Use the menu for adding new books in the Library section.
