so useful and so fun! i love the music it plays when you open the app and i love the word of the day notifications... mahalo
  • Really fun app

This app is super fun, between the sound of the ocean on the app and receiving the words as notifications every day. There is also a huge word bank so you will be pleased with the variety of words. The app is not made to verse someone in the language toward fluency, it's a fun app and it's engaging I find. If you are someone interested in language it's really a treat.

  • My experience with this app

For basic Hawaiian single words it works and it'll get you by. You have to go to another app for names and such which is fine. I use this app pretty well and enjoy the background music. Word to the wise, if you combine some words they mean something else so look for another app if that's what you are trying to do

  • A waste of time and money

I bought this app in order to learn the pronunciation of Hawaiian words for my upcoming trip to Hawaii.
1st of all it has incorrect information about how
Many consonants there are. There is not 7 like they say. They're 8.. The one letter you didn't include in the glottal stop ' in English it is known as an apostrophe.
2nd of all when the pronunciation is said it needs to have the put together. It is very hard to learn it just by hearing it being broken down. Even if the full word is said 1st then it was broken down that would work too.
3rd it needs to include more words. Especially the island names

  • Great app

Aloha from the great white north I found this app to be very helpful wife and I Having a few laughs learning the language just wish the translator had a real voice but all and all a great start mahalo nui
  • Happy to Learn

The Hawaiian Language is Powerful. You speak it from the abdomen, where deep breathing is centered. Vowels are the backbone of it, with limited consonants reinforcing the entire structure. Accentuation & Intonation are key to proper Punctuation, and as certain words and sub-words have myriad meaning, the ʻŌlelo can be very confusing to ones who haven't lived here. As a local haole who was conceived here, born in the Mainland, & brought back as a three month old, I should be able to speak Hawaiian fluently. But success is commensurate with effort and consistency. Knowing the fundamentals and having a solid foundation is paramount. I look at the app as a vocabulary guide: I cannot afford to purchase the add-ons, but I have a Hawaiian dictionary, am looking for a usage guide, and have the advantage of living here! If don't know something, "no be shame" to ask someone who does! Understanding pidgin English is also an important tool in comprehending Hawaiian usage. If you can't attend Hawaiian language Immersion classes, talk story with the locals. Show no fear, be yourself, and you will normally receive Aloha. And if you don't, no be discouraged: keep trying until you connect with people who have It!!

this app is awesome because I am in love with the music it plays. LITERALLY I LISTEN TO IT EVERY NIGHT WHILE FALLING ASLEEP! your app doesn't have all of the words I'd like to know but I'm grateful for the ones I have! thanks for the app and I rate it a 4 just because you don't have ALL the words which is annoying at times but yeah! I still love this app and the names one too! PLUS I AM IN LOVE WITH HAWAII so now I can learn some words in the language 😊

    ALOHA 🍍🌊🌴
