Reviews of Equine Joint Injections

Leave a Review Equine Joint Injections
  • Disappointed!

This app lacks some of the most important information a practitioner needs to make joint injection more simplified and less traumatic. For seasoned practitioners some injections are so straightforward or commonly used that information may seem redundant. However, having a concise source to describe the many joints available for injection and their appropriate technique is vital for review for any practitioner that only occasionally needs to inject a less common site, or, especially to aid new grads or less experienced practitioners to get the right guidance for proper technique. I was hoping this app would meet those stated goals.
Instead, many anatomical descriptions lack enough detail or direction to visualize correct needle placement. Compounding that major flaw, the line drawn pictures do not show needle placement or even fingertips at palpable landmarks. To add even more frustration, the included photos also are lacking needle placement or fingertips at palpable landmarks as well and instead only show a simple paper dot at approximate injection locations. It would be ideal to include such pictures as spatial relationships are vital in proper technique. Several joints, like the distal inter-tarsal joint, have a very vague description of landmarks and then entirely lack an adequate drawing or lack a photo altogether.
I'd save my hard earned money and wait for the classic Moyer pamphlet on Equine Joint Injection to be released in its newer edition hopefully later this year.

  • Good concept. Very poor detail.

Very lacking in accuracy. The Hock feature in particular is very poor especially for such an important joint. There is far less useful detail here than in the basic text books. I will not be using it again, but hope it improves given the prevalence of iPads in Equine Practice.
  • Just what I needed

Clear descriptions - very clear diagrams - just what I needed
