Great offline maps and GPS
I have been using this for several years and find it the best for tracking where you've been. I use it to add locations, camping, hotels, bars, restaurants and other POI as well as tracking walks, drives and other. I can quickly open my map and see places I've visited with my comments which I find highly useful. I found it very worthwhile spending the time to get to know how this app works and it has been invaluable.

Brilliant trekking companion
I’ve used Pocket Earth everywhere from the Scottish Highlands to Nepal and Bhutan and always found the mapping to be detailed and accurate, the routing to be reliable and the data logging thorough.
My only complaint is that I find the interface a little confusing and counterintuitive. Even after all these years I don’t have confidence that I am logging a walk as I intended.
One detail missing on the contour maps is an indication of rock outcrops as you would find on O/S maps. Very useful when navigating broken country.

Hidden costs
After purchasing the app you are required to purchase access to open maps to use it.
Very limited choice of map layouts. Public transport overlay option is broken. The UI is underwhelming.

Reminders of usage.
Having not used Pocket Earth for a few years, and remembering how exceptionally good it is, I’m struggling to use it again.
Is there a manual of how to use it?
On and off line usage?
Handy tips?

THE best mapping/navigation app
Have used several Apps to navigate walks and cycle routes in many different countries. This is absolutely the standout best. It does take a small investment in time to familiarise with functionality but once set up it is invaluable. Great at plotting routes, and outstanding at finding cycle and walking routes. Once you have initial route it is particularly easy to make minor refinements. Cannot recommend enough. For any sort of travel this is essential.

Favorite iOS app
Using it for 13 years, best iOS app I’ve ever used - well designed, super fast, reliable. Travelled all over the world with it. Developers are super competent and they haven’t resorted to nickel and diming and messing around with customers. Thank you for creating this and supporting it so well.
Still the very best offline maps app
Easy to use, fast, easy on the storage space yet detailed. Has been very reliable over the years. It is my go to maps app if I am off google maps roads - best for paths and features, points of interest.
Love, Pocket Earth
Love it! Use it all the time. Would like to get in the car and ride around on the back roads all over and the only way I can remember where we have been is to use the tracking function on Pocket Earth. We even used it in Europe, and found it quite reliable, especially when walking around large cities.

Good app
A pretty good general purpose offline map app.
Sync has stopped working
I’ve always loved this app for its offline trail and navigation support. But saved routes and points of interest are no longer syncing. I can’t compare notes of recent hikes between my devices or plan something on my iPad and then leave it behind and use only my phone or watch. I’m also scared to upgrade my phone, not knowing if my favorites will be carried over. There’s no way to contact the developer or get support, so I have multiple backups of my Pocket Earth history and am looking for a replacement app.
