  • Grow and destroy

In this game you are tasked with expanding your race. The intriguing thing is not what you have to do but how you do it. Your race is in the form of two tree-like structures and their products that colonise asteroids. The trees either defend the asteroid or grow and release 'seedlings' that can attack depending on how u want to allocate your resources. Seedlings perform a number of functions. As well as being your attack force they also grow the trees (basic circle of life stuff) and help to increase the power of an asteroid. The attributes of the asteroid determine those of the trees and seedlings and it's fun to see the differences. You can modify the asteroid with a little gardening using the seedlings which is a nice touch. And you can grow a couple of other special structures which is really exciting when you get the rare opportunity.

I really enjoyed the gameplay. It was fun and interesting. Visually it is wonderful. The challenges were of a perfect difficulty. Its strongest point is the smooth, easy-to-handle controls, understandable buttons which you learn gradually without hardly knowing it. I liked the challenge of collecting certain artefacts too. Age of Empires meets Asteroids in a game of complete and universal takeover.

There was a story of sorts of contamination and necessary annihilation of enemies but, unfortunately, it doesn't have any real importance or complexity. If you want a story you will be frustrated because there is unrealised potential. That's my main criticism. I was uncomfortable that there is only a single race bent on total domination. This theme is old and narrow. It is especially naive when you think how trees adapt so well to diversity. I kept hoping that the missions would evolve as understanding of the enemy evolved. The identified enemy was no different to other races you have to fight making the essentiality of their demise pretty weak. Maybe it will happen in later releases. The ending narrative was brief and vague. It could have been much more satisfying.

Having said that, if you don't make the storyline too significant, the game is definitely fun and addictive. I, for one, kept playing to the end.

  • Great game

Fun, relaxing, challenging and beautiful. Highly recommend
  • Am I missing something?

Seems fine, but it's basically just Galcon with a lot more tapping involved to do basic stuff and a much slower pace to give the appearance of greater strategy when in fact it's still a "tap the same plants over and over again to send ships to the target planet" game. Very tedious.
  • I play it over and over

I have owned this game for about a year now and absolutely love it. I I always come back to it and is my top ten favorite apps/games. Any possibility for an expansion?
  • Ambient Awesomeness.

Played this on PC. Went wide eyed when I saw it on App Store. Get it. Strategic Zen.

Same sound and music artistry from the guy who did Osmos. You'll need that soothing sound to keep your head clear for some of the best RTS available. Enjoy.
  • Worth every cent!

This game's fantastic! I was glued to it until I'd finished every level (story, dark, and arenas)! Great way to spend anywhere from 10-70 minutes. The artifacts are great!
  • Worth it

I first bought this game about a year ago, i played it on my old iPhone 5 and being a strategy game kind of guy i instantly liked it. I liked the graphics, the music, the ambient feel of the game and the challenge of the game modes unlocked after you beat the campaign. Plain and simple, it was worth the price, i hope the developers update this game to fit an iPhone 6 Plus soon. 😊

I am still playing this game 2 years later because it is never the same game twice and it always requires a new approach. I would love to see new levels, but honestly it's just a fantastic, well-made game.

  • Totally addictive!

I found I couldn't stop playing this. So when I finished everything in the game I deleted it! I will be reinstalling again in the future and starting the whole game once more.
