  • Not working for Japanese language

I just went on a trip to Japan and though this app would help but it disn’t. I tried it many time to translate menus and sentences but it would translate in something totally different. For exemple I wanted to translate a brochure about the city of Kyoto and it would translate “fatty tuna”. It is so off. Very disappointing for Japanese language anyway.

  • Very useful app

It can take a few goes to get the translation right sometimes, and it can take a few more goes if there’s a lot of varying colours/shapes behind the text, but usually translates it without hassle and all-in-all a very useful app for a tourist in China, Japan or Korea.
  • Absolutely useless.

I’ve tried this app on 2 different occasions, months apart and both times it only translates one to two words in a line of text. And then I get a box asking if I want to upgrade. No. If it can’t translate 2 lines of a clothing label, how could it ever translate a menu as the professional ad has it seem. Makes me question if the highly positive feedback is self-promotion. After trying the app, that’s what it looks like.

  • Paid app performs poorly

Paid for the app, but worked worse than free google translate (had to use vpn in China though).
  • It works perfectly fine

It works perfectly fine, I was skeptical at first because of all the reviews but it ok.
  • Japanese needs a lot of improvement

I don’t think you should charge £6 for the Japanese. Reading the reviews my understanding is that Chinese works pretty well. Let’s be honest the Japanese translator still needs some work. My impression was that a few words kept coming up no matter the situation (ie. Bathroom signs translated with “chicken “ or “beef”.... whatever I was scanning was “chicken” and “beef”). Hope it will improve with time. But you can’t charge that much for the Japanese one. I was not expecting perfection... I imagine this is a software very hard to develop. But would have appreciated a bit of honesty from you and charged less. I guess I would have supported you anyway (as I think the app has a great potential). Instead you charged me nearly £7 for something that doesn’t work and I am here now writing a bitter review.

  • Works very well

A little trouble with handwritten or dark background but really very useful
  • Useless

The translations provided are complete jibberish in every instance I have used the app in my week in Japan. Definitely not worth the £6.99 paid for the offline version - you’re better off using google translate, for free
  • Lousy in Japanese

Not one single sign. Not one. It’s a bust.
  • Makes life easy!

This has become a tool I cannot live without in China!
So quick at translations. Thank you!
