Requires Monthly Subscription
The reviews that say Fitness Buddy is an awesome fitness app dated prior to October 2024 are very true. This app has been a staple in my fitness life. However, the latest upgrade has locked out my prior fitness data, and removed access to custom built workouts and all access to any pre-built workout without a monthly subscription. It’s very disappointing. I hate monthly subscriptions, and would rather have the option to pay a higher fee up front. That’s what I did several years ago when I first bought the app. These ‘bug fixes’ are not a feature. It’s to force customers to pay monthly to get access to what they already paid for.

Paid for Premium but don’t have it :-(
I am a longtime subscriber to this app, I have been using it for years. I renewed my subscription at the end of July, but for some reason the app does not recognize that I have a premium account. I can no longer edit my custom workouts and I get constant prompts to upgrade to premium. I have sent numerous emails to the developer and have not heard anything back so I fear this might have become abandonware. It’s a shame because it’s a great app, I have tried many over my 14 year gym career, and it has been the best. Time to start shopping around I guess. 😢

Greedy developers - better apps for the money.
Been consistently using both free and paid versions of this app for 6+ years - it was good so I was happy to pay whenever I could afford it.
Now they’ve pulled more then half of the exercises out and locked them behind a pay wall, all my history and custom workouts and exercises have been deleted or locked out.
The free version doesn’t allow you to log a full workout of any kind due to most exercises being locked and you can’t add custom exercises. Last I checked there was a significant price rise for premium and now there is no way to see the price or conditions prior to subscribing.
I used to recommend this app to everyone- now I won’t be back.

Loved it
Have had the app for years now. Cannot fault it. And if there is a fault, they will change it or add work outs
Be Careful
I have paid for an annual subscription however my account was deleted not long after. Going around in circles with Danica refusing to fix my issue.
Don’t pay for something you won’t receive people and horrible customer service…beware…

New paywall for access to different exercises
There has been a change in the way this app works. The developer has taken what used to be access to all the exercises and changed it to put maybe half or more behind a paywall. Meaning you cannot log normal gym exercises unless you pay up for their worthless premium membership. What a sad state of affairs, there are other workout apps out there. I will be using one of the ‘‘em going forward. Also, the app is now inundated with ads. This app is garbage now.

Loaded with bugs
I have had a membership with this app for over 4 years. It used to be a good app, then they updated it and got rid of all the features I loved and introduced tons of new bugs… then they just completely quit caring about updating the app. It has had many of the same bugs for over 2 years now. The bugs that are very irritating is, after an exercise the app shuts down completely and you have to relaunch it. When you choose a time to exercise it keeps resetting to 31 minutes. Every single exercise you have to keep messing with this over and over until it finally works. I lose about 5-10 mins by messing with the bugs each time I exercise. It keeps reminding me that I haven’t exercised in days when really I exercise everyday. The only good thing about this app now is that the membership is cheap, just like the effort put into it. When my membership expires I will not be renewing, I tell everyone to avoid these apps due to the lazy developers.

Almost great but unreliable
As an average gym-goer I’ve found this app really useful to track progress, organise workouts, rest consistently between exercises and similar. The inbuilt workouts are OK and building custom ones is tedious but not too bad. The manor issue I have is that having had it on a couple of different iPhones now, including my current iPhone 12 is that it crashes relatively frequently. This is really frustrating as it will do it mid workout. Fortunately it will log what you’ve done to that point, but then you have to start a new workout and combine the two (or more) halves retrospectively. Shame as it could be great.

I figured it out…
I figured out a way around what I posted below, so it’s good again.
I have been using this app for over a year, and I have loved it. After a run or a bike ride, I could do a quick strength training workout. I could specify the amount of time, what equipment I had, and what parts of my body I wanted to work, and it would give me a workout with a variety of activities. With the most recent update however, I can no longer do that. I have to choose pre-programmed workouts, and I have to do three repetitions of each one. I don’t like the new format and I miss the old feature. I may not renew next time my subscription comes around.

Almost perfect
This app was the most comprehensive and flexible compared to all of the other apps I looked at. If you don’t choose it over the rest, the only reason I can think of is because some menu options are tricky to find. Otherwise you are missing out on keeping a comprehensive record of what you’re doing to go where you want to go! Don’t forget: failing to plan is a plan to fail. Failure to document means it didn’t happen.
