Disappointed
Half the time I open the App it says fireplace is unavailable. It has a Ethernet connection and if you log into smart heat via web it works fine so clearly issue with the App.
This app could be so much better, have schedules etc like most heat pump providers do. I suggest taking a look at them to get some ideas.

Paid $8500 for the fire, please fix the App ASAP
Had the DF990 for 12m or so, App does not connect remotely just as others are saying - come on Escea why won’t you fix this ??? Used to work okay (though a bit basic) but now? Nothing !

And while its internet connected, escea can't be bothered to do the minor amount of developer work that would make it possible to control this via Google Home, Apple HomeKit or Amazon Alexa.
$10k+ connected fireplace but so poorly executed in terms of the connectivity you have to use the remote most of the time.
Step up Escea and do the work to integrate this with various smart home options please!

Does not connect
In a need of an update. Connection often drops out and becomes unavailable. Poor app for an expensive fire place !
Doesn’t work
I downloaded the app thinking I could turn the fireplace on when out or on the way home which I can’t. The app is essentially useless. You would think with such an expensive fireplace they would have an app that works.

It hardly ever works correctly. Even when at home and on the same network it just hangs trying to refresh.
It is such a beautiful fireplace and it would be nice to come home to a beautiful warm roaring fire.

Works on and off
Great app when it sees the fireplace and gets into local mode. But it constantly jumps to remote mode and the all good features disappear.
It is in dire need of an update.

Works well.
The app turns the fire off and on, particularly useful when you’re not at home. Or you’re at home and the dog is on your lap and you don’t want to get up off the couch. :)
It also allows the programmed timers to be set, but I’ve never tried. As the supplied remote control does that easily.
I’m perplexed by the poor reviews. The app turns the fire on and off and adjusts the temperature. Sure sometimes it locks up and you have to close and reopen the app. But really, how hard is that!
