  • Great Port of the Boardgame

This is a WONDERFUL port of a boardgame into aapp. Le Havre is not a simple game. The rules are involved. There are many strategies to consider. Codito has done a wonderful job putting all of the information onto the screen (some minor gripes).

Given this I AM BEING TOO HARSH with a 4 star review. The only reason for it is that the AI is too simple. I know coding good AI for this game must be a nightmare, but even when I think I've played poorly I win comfortably. With a competative AI this app is beyond 5 stars. As is, the game probably deserves 5 stars anyway. But I want potential buyers to know that if you plan to play primarily against the AI, you will likely be disappointed.

  • One of my favorite board games, now on IOS

For many, "Agicola" is the best game by Uwe Rosenberg.
Sorry my friends, but that distinction goes to "Le Havre" (The Harbor) and now it is here on IOS.
Codito Development has done some great work on different board game conversions in the past (Puerto Rico,T&E, Ra,etc.) but they knocked it out of the park with this release.
    Excellent graphic design.
    Competent Tutorial.
    Superior user interface.
The graphics are functional for game play and are a stunning representation of the actual game board.
It really is "Le Havre" that you can pack up and take with you anywhere.

The one problem with "Le Havre" the physical board game is that it takes a long time to set up, takes up a lot of room, and is extremely "fiddly" (takes a long time just to move the bits around the board neccessary to play the game).
    No problem with that here.
    Gameplay is snappy.
Computer AI is more than competent with multiple levels of challange.
Multiplayer, either pass and play or online works great.
Yeah, they got it all right with this release.

This is one of the world's great, meaty, deep games.
So if you are looking for something light and fluffy, stay away.
However, if you enjoy deep, complex, and elegent games that will really test your mettle over the long run, then this is the game for you.
    Great fun.
Now, if we could just get the expansion.
