It just works
Stopped working on iPhone
Response from developer
From your brief description I assume either there is an IP/port mismatch or the App does not have the local network access rights. Please look into this post in the support forums: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=372379 which should help to narrow down and resolve the problem -- especially see the comment on iOS 17+. Also feel free to reach out via the support forum in case you need further help.
A great app for a great project
A cluttered and confusing interface that is Not user-friendly
Redesign this broken UI.
Two stars.
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. It will be good, if you could share some main problems you see with the current UI compared to Sybu. Do you e.g. would expect folder/add-on access on the main menu, or you expect more control elements on NowPlaying? Kodi Remote offers more functionality especially around Music, Music Videos, Pictures, Live TV, Kodi settings and library browsing in general.
Unable to mark seasons as “watched”
Response from developer
Thank you for your feedback. You can mark a full show as watched/unwatched when you long press on a show's banner or cover in the TV Show list. I like your suggestion to improve the usability by adding the same functionality for a season as well. On last comment I am not clear on your description of "local playback" as the App itself does not support playback at all. It would be very helpful, if you could share more details via the support forum at https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=193.
Overcomplicated mess but very powerful
Just so you know: you *JUST* need HTTP remote access, not the other confusing and insecure JSON-RPC access on a separate port, and you don't need to input the MAC address.
Apparently easy to set up?
Response from developer
You can enable the remote with the following steps. Prerequisite is that you have Kodi installed on another device in the same network to which your iOS device is connected to. In Kodi (not the Remote App) you go to "Settings > Services Control" and set "Allow programs on other systems to control Kodi = ON", "Allow control of Kodi via HTTP = ON" and "Announce these services to other systems = ON". In the Remote App please first press "Add Host". In the next menu press "Find Kodi". The Remote App should now find Kodi. Finally save and connect to the newly created server entry by selecting it.
Needs ui colors per server connection
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Your suggestion is great and I already started to look at it (https://github.com/xbmc/Official-Kodi-Remote-iOS/issues/839). Please do not expect this to be available quickly, but I definitely see this as a value add.
Year Category & iWatch Support
Would be nice to see the return if the “Year” category alongside “Album”, “Artist”, “Genre” without having to use a playlist.
Would be awesome to drive Kodi off the Apple Watch as well.
🙂👍
Nope! Still rubbish
Response from developer
In Kodi (not the Remote App) you go to "Settings > Services Control" and set "Allow programs on other systems to control Kodi = ON", "Allow control of Kodi via HTTP = ON" and "Announce these services to other systems = ON". Then please press "Fink Kodi" in the Kodi Remote App. The Remote App should now find Kodi. Finally save and connect.
