  • Platform is broken

In the last couple of months the Fin Review app has been barely working. Seems to have been since iOS 13 was released. Often only loads when the phone is restarted. More recently it has jerky stop/start scrolling and very slow to load articles. Often now I have to kill the app in order to use the phone for other apps.

I’m paying a Fin Review subscription! This app is rubbish and there’s no excuse for it.

Please get it fixed pronto, it’s been broken for too long now.

Hi Richard, apologies for the issues you experienced. We have resolved the cause of these issues so the app should be working well for you now.
  • Needs Fixing

While I have no issue with the content, the interface of the app appears to be broken and full of performance affecting bugs. Scrolling through the articles is causing my iPhone to heat up and drain its battery (I have an iPhone 7). Instead of scrolling being smooth and seamless, it freezes and so you get a stop start motion. I wouldn’t have thought that an iPhone 7 would have performance issues running a news app. So I think AFR need to debug the app and issue an update to fix the issues.

Hi BooBoo1983, we have now resolved the performance problems with the app. If problems persist for you please let us know.
  • Great app but.....

Love this app and read it daily as it is a much better paper than virtually anything else in Australia. However have been very frustrated over family sharing. The App Store says it supports family sharing yet my wife can’t access any of the subscription content.
  • Links don’t work.

The app experience falls far short of expectations. It’s better value reading the mobile site
When reading and article with links to previous articles there is nowhere to save the link so you can read the related article after you have finished reading the current one.
In addition, even though you pay for a subscription via the App Store; often clicking on an article link takes you to a mobile site that asks you subscribe to read the requested article.

  • Content is great, the app is lacking

While I greatly enjoy the articles using the app on the iPhone is somewhat lacking. It does not remember read articles: many times I read articles which are the marked grey, only to later on be marked back to unread. This makes it hard to make sure I’ve read it all. Secondly, I can’t seem to find a way to save the articles? Lastly it would be really great if there was a sync between the web site and the app. For example, I will read some articles on my PAC during lunch at work, and catch up on the app in the afternoon. Wouldn’t it be great if the read articles would be marked as such on the app. Other than that, not too bad.

  • AFR app is worth the download.

Works well for flights: downloads all the text of the paper before you board so you can read offline. Pictures aren't downloaded however.
  • Advertising only

Don't bother unless you're prepared to pay. Strictly user pays.
  • App keeps crashing

The app keeps crashing. When it does work it is very slow to download content, and only has a limited range of stories versus the hardcopy.

Unless they fix it I will be deleting my subscription.
  • Finally!

Finally AFR is available for the iPad! The interface is pretty user friendly and navigation is pretty easy. Much better than having to see the paper through a browser window (the previous business model). This way you can download the current paper, jump on a flight and continue read away.
