Mostly a good app, but has one fatal flaw
As an app developer myself, I feel this is a generally solid app with a nice user interface. However, it has one very frustrating design issue. When a string is tuned, and the note detected is picked up as being correct, the app plays a ding sound. Then, the app hears itself playing that sound, detects it as an out-of-tune note, and shows that the note is no longer tuned. The sound then stops, and if the guitar's actual note is still resounding, the app once again detects it as in tune. This leads to it making the sound again, and then detecting that it's out of tune again.... repeating as long as the guitar note keeps playing. Because of this one has to take the extra step of turning down the volume every time to avoid the sound that doesn't serve a huge purpose anyway. It's a small inconvenience but a very annoying one, and I'm sure it could be fixed very easily!Show lessDeveloper Response
Hi, thank you for your review! To disable the success bing sound effect, you can go to your profile in the bottom right corner, then select Settings (gray cog wheel) in the top right corner, and toggle off the "in tune" sound effect option in the menu. This should address the issue you're experiencing with the tuner. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at support@guitartuna.com and we will be happy to help :).I like it! One problem.
This app is amazing! It tunes nicely and everything which is nice but on top of that there’s courses!! Now I am a beginner, so this is helpful. And the selection of songs is great! But let’s cut to the chase here... whenever I go and look up a song (or even when I simply go to a favorite) it shows the ad for the additional features on the app. I don’t have that, and I don’t need it. So I press the X of course but then a lil thing pops up that says I’m “offline and can’t browse songs.” Okay. So I connect to the internet—same result. I tried everything!! I even shut down my phone!😂😅 But anyways this really disappointed me. I was looking forward to using this app and the songs but something’s not right!! Altogether thank you for designing such an awesome app!😸 I hope you’re able to fix/give-an-explanation but other than that I am happy with the app and it deserves a 5 but will go with a 4 for now.🙌 Peace!✌️Show lessUsed to be my favorite app but it’s become more about making money than helping young guitarists
I’ve had this app for awhile now, and I had the ‘smart scroll’ option before you had to pay for it. This was amazing and made the app a step above any other guitar app where you have to pay for the scrolling feature (such as Ultimate Guitar: Chords and Tabs). Today I opened the app to see that my smart scroll feature was taken away even though I thought I was grandfathered in. Now the app is pretty much useless, as Ultimate Guitar has wayyyy more songs and versions of songs free to the public. The ONLY thing this app had going for was its free smart scroll and now you want me to pay $9 a month? That’s genuinely absurd. Listen, if this company is only interested in churning out a subpar product and making as much money off it as they can - that’s fine. But, please, don’t market it as a way to help young guitarists and grow and learn. It feels like extortion and is just incredibly sleazy.Show lessDeveloper Response
