I love this app sm but I just need help
I’m a premium user cos I think paying $30 a month is way cheaper then paying for guitar lessons
Anyway it’s all going well but for some reason the app really struggles to pick up the E Minor chord. It’s annoying, my guitar is in tune, I tune it everyday with the in app tuner so why isn’t it recognising the EM chord but recognising everything else? I am up to lesson 5 so I know I’m playing it correctly. It recognises the chord in songs but not in lessons which is even more frustrating because I can’t get past the lesson without it recognising it.
Besides that I am learning guitar so fast, I only started last week and can play full songs and switching between chords is becoming easier and faster. Just hope someone can help me with the note recognition bug the app is struggling to pick up the EM chord.

Doesn’t even pick up most of my cords
I get it I’m new to guitar but like… I’m playing it in the right timing the right minger and hand placement I’m doing everything right and it just won’t pick it up. Even my guitar coach tried and he’s been playing for 15 years and still barely anything was getting picked up. I’m not trying to diss the app and the people who made it but it has a lot of problems that didn’t show up until after I paid the membership??? Like it was working amazing before it was picking a lot more sounds up and then I paid the membership and it just all of the sudden decided to not work well anymore?? Especially the tuning it doesn’t pick up 5th and 6th string it took my way longer to tune my guitar then I regularly would. At one point during a song after it made me restart 3 times because it wasn’t pick up any notes I just stoped playing and moved to a different song to see if it was just that song not working properly just to see that the new song I clicked on didn’t even require me to play any notes because it was picking up notes from the background music from the app??? Like what… how are you gonna tell me to play but when I don’t you magically pick up notes anyways??? How does that make sense.

Very helpful app
I noticed a lot of the reviews are years old so I was going to give my two cents for anyone looking now.
I started using simply guitar about a week ago and I love it. Sometimes the sound recognition can be a little off but overall it works pretty well as long at your phone isn’t too far away from your guitar and there’s not a lot of background noise. This app has helped me so much.
You can change the speed of every lesson I’ve done so far.
They encourage so much repetition to help learn cords and riffs and break down riffs into multiple parts to help you learn them better.
They have practices for all songs so you can practice before actually trying to play it.
And to anyone that starts struggling, you can always go back and reinforce some of the earlier lessons and it makes moving forward easier. I like to go back to a song I enjoyed from the beginning and compare to how hard it was to play the first time so I know if I’m improving and it’s been amazing how much easier it’s getting and it’s only been a week.
Lastly I’ll say to anyone considering this app, remember, playing any instrument is a matter of repetition and practice practice practice. Nothing is going to be a magic wand to just teach you, it has to be done enough to become muscle memory and that takes a lot of time. So have reasonable expectations and you’ll learn so much from this app.
