Finally, a MMO that isn't pay-to-win. While there are special currency in the game, you can get them in the game itself without paying or leveling up. The game is pretty balanced, too, giving only small advantages to higher ranked players, and even then you can't just load up on the biggest weapon, hull, and storage and dominate guns blazing. The corporations and alliances offer some strategy with location, armament, and conquest. I will say that the game is a little confusing at first, but as you play, you understand it, and you can always go to the forums or ask on the server chat. The game also gives you a sense of actually shaping the world, instead of FarmVille-like solo challenges.
