  • They Photoplug device does not work!

Tried two of these and both don’t work. Tried different phones, ones with and without adapter. Tried everything. The first one never worked and I thought the signal was the photodetector but was actually from the mic. I tried using it again recently when I realised this but it was way out the return period so put it down to bad luck and ordered another. The second one is just the same. There’s no signal! Useless. Just don’t bother, I purchased two of these with shipping from Germany to UK and it’s a waste of money. Seller says I can return second unit but have to pay return postage from UK to Germany! Joke!

  • Nothing works

Nothing works in this app. I’m using it in iOS 13.
  • Just wow

This is a life saver... Proper audio capture and understanding. I olny wish I can select actual time duration instead of reverse fractions as I also use it to measure mechanical noise delays on other equipment.
I love the simplicity of the app.
    Keep up the good work.

  • Very usedful

For old large format lenses to measure their accuracy to be able to compensate if necessary.
  • Essential Tool For Vintage Cameras

The Shutter Speed app and the matching Photo Plug are fantastic additions to my toolbox! Easy to use - the app is always with you when you shoot - It's great. Just look up the camera you're using that day and get really dialed in on your exposure. Even slide film. My only request? Why not measure 1/1000 sec.? I can easily measure it, but there is no place to record the measurement.

    Thanks and great work!

  • Works very well

This app is excellent - zooming in/out on the waveform works nicely and it is easy to position and save measurements to the many mechanical cameras I own. It seems quite accurate between 1/1 and 1/15 even just using the built-in microphone, and that's plenty for me to perform simple checks for slow shutter speed accuracy. I've been using it mainly with SLR's, with the film door open and holding the mic close to the shutter mechanism.
    Thanks!

  • Useful tool for mechanical lenses

    Good work
  • Nearly perfect

I'm using an iPhone 6s Plus with the optical photo plug and this does almost everything I need...
It took a little learning but I'd recommend starting with 1/125th sec for easiest recognition of what to look for (the sharp vertical incline and decline) to signify the shutter opening and closing.

Only improvements I'd like to see is higher shutter speed support (1/2000th ideally), a graphical tweak for newer iPhones (as it is a little skewed on my screen), and a better explaination of the seeming auto-gaining the app does on longer exposures (jagged lines in the curves).

Completely useable, accurate - an almost perfect app.

  • Shutter-Speed

So disapointed with what I recieved. Nothing like whats on the app. can’t change the speed and the the tap keys they talk about aren’t even there.
  • Helpful app

I've been using this app for several years and find it to be helpful, particularly with leaf shutters. Currently running on iOS 10.1 on iPhone 6s with no difficulties.
