It works but it would be a lot better if there was some filtering of the results (e.g. moving average, band pass). It would make it much easier spotting the right peaks.Obixel
Useless on iPhone 6
This was a pretty good app, but it no longer works since upgrading to an iPhone 6. Very disappointing since I had invested in the optional Fototransistor plug to go with it.Bkeep3
Works Great!
Have an iPhone 5 and the photo resistor plug and everything works as it should. Nice to know how many stops I have to compensate now. Thanks!Calphotography

Doesn't work with iPhone 6 and iOS 8
Cool idea, but don't bother if you have an iPhone 6. The screen controls don't work, so it's impossible to select the shutter speed you're testing or edit the resulting wave form after measuring. If the developer ever updates this, it would be great.Nonuniform
Fantastic - get the photoplug!
I reviewed this some months ago, using it in audio mode only. Since I use it with SLRs there is quite a bit of extra mechanical noise to deal with compared with, say, a leaf shutter. But it was OK, until I bought an old SLR which I suspected had a defective shutter. It was all so noisy that it was harder then normal to pick out the relevant peaks for shutter alone and so I went in search of the photo plug accessory on the well-known auction site. Dispatch from Germany to UK was swift and it’s not expensive.
What a difference! It’s now so easy to measure as the image is clean and very clear. As I suspected, the camera’s shutter is too slow and fairly erratic. Comparing with an identical and fully functioning body confirms the accuracy of this great little app with the photoplug. Highly recommended for anyone interested in measuring shutter accuracy.Show lessjrh68uk
Great Little App.
First of all I haven’t had this app for long though I have tested 3 of my 6 leaf shutters and have sound this little app to be accurate.
I knew one of my lenses had not had a CLA and it picked up which one.
The SLR testing has been a little more difficult as it looks as though my 35mm Cameras are way out, which may explain some really poor underexposed shots.
Or it could be a noisy environment and I’m not understanding how to use the app with my SLR's and have over processed my own films. Hmm.
I would like to buy the piece of hard wear for the app but I haven’t heard back from the developer yet. Hopefully he’s not on holiday.
All in all for the price, a great app to have handy for testing existing or upcoming purchases.Show lessMcReady
Useful for timing slower shutters
A nice application using the sound made by the shutter opening and closing to time the shutter. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to find the “Fotoplug” or “photo plug” or any other manifestation of the light-based plug-in; finding that would convert this to a five-star review.tamoroso
