  • DO NOT BUY!!!

Originally bought the aux version of this device which I had to switch out for a lightning cable version because of a new phone. It was full price. Device stopped working in about a week. Then I tried to use an adapter with the aux version which worked for about a month then gave me an error message each time I tried to use it. I’ve called and emailed customer support more times than I care to say without any help or solution to the problem. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A DIFFERENT DEVICE! Customer service is terrible for a company selling things to diabetics who need to check their glucose to stay alive. I bought a cvs brand Bluetooth machine that works perfectly and has very inexpensive strips.

I am not a diabetic but my husband was and passed away in 2015 from complications of it. I was diagnosed 2 years ago as a pre-diabetic and then I made up my mind to start checking my numbers and keep up with it. I went totally off sugar and pastas and potatoes and white rice and breads that are high carb and started keeping check in a regular meter. I saw the Dario and decided to order one. I love it better than any other meter and so thankful for it. Thank you for this meter that is easier and amazingly small to carry with you.
    I’m thankful for mine.
I hope the strips keep coming to me as I subscribed for them but don’t remember when they’re suppose to be here.
    Sincerely Sherra Turner

  • 100% honest review

I love the convenience of having the Dario glucose tester for many reasons.
One, it is very light weight and small so I can easily carry it with me in my purse, backpack or pocket. Making it very easy to test myself because, I always have on me.
Two, Dario actually reminds me when it is time to test myself and that in itself is very nice feature to have because life can get so busy.
Three, the Dario meter also keeps a log of a lot more than just my glucose readings. It also keeps a log of the food i eat plus my carbs intake, along with my daily exercise and goals that I want to reach.
Four, Dario company actually gave me my very own counsellor who calls and check on me plus I too can call him anytime with any questions I may have.
Five, there is a feature on the meter where you can list up to four different people phone numbers for them to call if your glucose were to drop to low or, get to high.
I only have one complaint and that is it takes a little while to figure out on how to use all the features. I only wish that they had a more clear video on how to use them all but, with lots of practice you’ll get the hang of it.
P.S. I am on the program with the unlimited lancers and test strips and it is completely true. When I ordered more there was absolutely No Charge to me at all.

  • Can’t test sugar without internet connection

So I was at work this week and the ATT tower near me had an issue and we were notified that it would be down for a week or so( probably a fiber cut) we don’t have WiFi due to security concerns so my phone had no internet connection. The Dario App will not even load to allow me to test my sugar level. So I had to go all day without knowing my levels. This is completely unnecessary. You can try it yourself, turn on airplane mode, then turn WiFi off and try and open the Dario app. You can’t get it to load. This is horrible design and potentially dangerous. I didn’t have a backup sugar testing kit on me, because the Dario is supposed to be convenient, but now I can’t really trust it.

  • So small, so complete

I’m Type2 and on an insulin pump. I also have a history of back problems and can only carry a small, lightweight bag. I love that I can get my test strips and test device into that bag - something I could not do with my previous One Touch. I can always have my meter with me! I’m also thrilled with the logging and reporting capabilities of my Dario. Now when my doc asks how high or low have I tested, I can show him my results on my phone (iPhone 8). I do wish Medicare covered my test strips, but since they don’t, and as long as I am able, I’ll pay the extra for the test strips.

  • Suki

I have been a Type 1 diabetic since 1986. Glucose monitoring has changed tremendously and often since that time. Seeing the Dario advertisement, my husband and I thought that it would help me. It has done even more. I don’t have to carry a big glucometer in my purse or on my person. Just having an iPhone, which everyone has, is all I need. All the information that is needed to help me monitor my glucose and A1c readings. This app also notifies my husband when my blood sugar drops and where I am. Like the previous review my doctor also was impressed with it. Thanks, Dario!

  • Works for me

Last year I was told I was diabetic and my Dr put me on medication.
I'll back up some, had an issue with seeing flashes one night, saw my eye Dr next morning. He suggested I see primary Dr and set up an appointment with eye specialist.... he asked about history, told him the Dr just said I'm diabetic.
He said I'd like to see a history of your blood work.
Told him my Dr didn't think I needed to do blood work at this point. So, I took it upon myself to get a monitor tester.
My research led me to Dario 4-5 times.
I ordered and started monitoring my blood sugars.
I also put myself on a very low carb diet, increase excise and monitoring my sugar.... my eye Dr was impressed with my logs and my primary Dr was impressed with my numbers....
I'm no longer on medication..... numbers are very good.
In part, want to thank Dario.... but sure would be good if I didn't have to use my adapter on my iPhone 7+.... yes, the Dario works both on my iPhone 7+ and my iPad Pro.....

  • Very nice

Knocked a star because there’s no way to delete inaccurate readings. On the one hand, this keeps you honest and means you can’t delete scores you just don’t like, but on the other, now my stats are screwed up because there wasn’t enough blood on the strip, I tested from a bad site (scab that came off and happened to bleed. I’m lazy, so sue me) and got a wonky reading, etc etc. Also, I have to undress my phone every time I want to plug in the device (I have an Otterbox for a reason, and it’s not so I can take it on and off twice a day and risk dropping my phone) Otherwise, I really like this system.

  • Design flaws

    1. Lacks a facility to calculate insulin requirements based upon current reading and expected carb intake.
    2. Lacks the ability to record insulin injected and carbs consumed.
    3. Lancing device is a wimp. It does not deal with fingers callused by many years of testing.
    4. Lacks a place to store used strips until I'm somewhere near a wastebasket.
    5. Needs to recognize that MediCare pays for the strips for many of us. The touted convenience does not justify the cost of the strips, especially in light of the flaws cited above.

Summary--great idea, but not there yet.

Update. Right now to utilize your your device, I need to get the Dario out and set up with my phone, eventually get a reading after two to four tries and ruined strips. I then go to Glucose Companion, insert the bg result and the expected carb load. I record the results in GC, take my insulin and enjoy my meal while it's still reasonably warm. Or I can start with my old meter, good lancing device, not a lot to put together, get a reading, plug the data into the onboard calculator, record bg, time of day, units of carbs eaten and units of insulin taken All done in about 1/2 the time; meal is delightfully warm and tasty.

  • I got the dia-beetus

Newly diagnosed with Type 2. My Dr rx’ed me with the one touch meter, except for the part that it would keep getting turned on in my purse because of the constant bumping around. I didn’t like that...what happens if I need to take a reading and the dang thing is dead? Did some research and found the Dario. I absolutely love the fact that the meter is powered by your phone. Now I have the iPhone 8+, and the little dongle cord is awesome and keeps the reader far enough away from my phone that I don’t have to worry about getting blood on my phone. I don’t use the bags.
I would recommend this style for anyone who is adept with today’s technology.
