I am currently in China for work. It is great when it works, but there are days when you have to change the VPN location every five minutes. The additional VIP service adds no benefits. The 24/7 customer service does not exist - you also get no notification on whether or not your help request has been received or not. They are excellent at reminding you that your members will expire though!

Mixed results in China
Astrill’s reputation in China is enhanced by how poorly the other VPNs are doing but results are still not great. Desktop is fairly stable but on mobile- where most people do most of their browsing- only 5-6 servers work at any time and of those it cannot be certain that *any* are working at any given time- you have to face constantly being bumped, sometimes with every page you load, and pages that load so slowly it’s hard to tell if you’re on or not. $180/year is pretty steep for service that is so undependable.
October 2024 Update: Mobile app is failing about 95% of the time in China across all servers. No servers are working reliably and getting access means a process of logging in and testing a long list of servers until you find one that is working that day, albeit with many interruptions.

I keep getting disappointed that i want to smash this vpn if i can i swear to god i want to kill this. (I just want to play with my brother)
Overpriced, unreliable and a waste of money

Dead on iPhone
Recently completely stopped working on iPhone. I have been with Astrill for 10 years. Do not buy it if you are iPhone user. “Crashing due to internal error” curious about other devices
Regretful one year subscription
Recommend make comparison with different VPN providers, try for a short time and cautiously monthly subscription because there’s no guarantee VPN service will be stable in the future! I get recommendation from friend who has been using for years without any issues. Lucky him! However Highlight here: it has been unavailable and unstable recently on mobile phones for hours days weeks I tried lots of ways uninstalling reopen login out and in restart! It has less and less locations available to connect! Now only one option and not working! It really wastes money time and energy !! I am emotionally exhausted of this app! Support team never responds! They said they are 24/7 available! Please anyone who developed this app fix the problem! Not just me, since they don’t respond I did a lot of googling search and get lots of answers and blogs posted about the same similar issues ! Please do maintenance and updates as needed!

Stops working
It worked before. But rencently, there is one server left in the list and isn't working.
Unreliable
I would look for a different provider if you need reliable service outside of North America. I regret purchasing Astrill.
Doesn’t work in China on mobile devices
I have been using Astrill for a few months. It worked well at the beginning. However, for the last couple of months, it has stopped working on mobile devices (phone and iPad). It shows to be connected when I turn it on, but there is no connection at all. Nothing loads. The only reason that I bought this service even though it’s the most expensive VPN is it used to work in China. Now I feel rather disappointed.
