Pro Tools HUI running flawlessly

This thing actually works seamlessly. I’m running over the built-in network midi interface on Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.8, then as a HUI midi in Pro Tools 9HD. Extremely well integrated. Very pleased.

Not working

Directions for setup kind of trail off when developer gets to Pro Tools. Basically: “look it up.” Well it isn’t easy, when Avid has their own system to push ( which is not back -compatible with PT 11.) Anyone know how to set up the midi connection? If not, it’s another digital paper weight.

Great with Reaper now!

Super easy to set up with Reaper. Works smoothly and accurately. Much appreciate!

Excellent

This is Excellent, worked first time for me.

I have no idea why people are giving it low ratings.

Excellent for Digital Performer!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Like many, I am heartbroken that MOTU has apparently stopped development of their DP Control app. This is a fantastic replacement in my opinion. So far, all basic functions are working perfectly for me, including transport, track meters, faders, and Save (yay!). I can delete a track in the DAW and the iPad control surface updates immediately.

The instructions included with the app are clear and very helpful in getting a MacBook network connection working with the iPad. Then, just add a Mackie Control element in the Control Surface Setup in DP, Input Port is “Network-1” and you’re all set! It helps if you have a little bit of experience using Control surfaces with DP, but it’s not hard at all if you follow the instructions in the included manual.

For me, this fills the void left by MOTU’s discontinuation of development of their brilliant DP Control app. I’m really glad I found this. It’s easily the best $3 I’ve spent in a long time.

My thanks to the developer. Good stuff.

Does not work

I have Ableton Live on Windows, it would not connect, kept asking me to go to a dodgy looking site to install something on my PC, yeah right. Does not look honest, no mention of this on descriptions before paying for it. RIP OFF , will have to try and get a refund.... waste of time buying stuff like this on App Store over the last few years, looks like a bad clone of something good that used to exist in another companies name. Apple need to put a report app button on stuff like this, their report a problem never works properly from day one, you have to remember to ask for a refund nearer their 14 days refund window, if I were a cynical person I would be wondering if they do that on purpose so that they get their cut. Have decided never to by on iTunes or App Store anymore, just seems to be a load of rubbish whenever the only option is to buy before trying. I notice the really good apps developers ALWAYS show off using a FREE version first. Will never ever BUY from a developer that does not also have a FREE version any more considering a lot of so-called unknown developers seem to be ripping people off lately. This platform is no longer safe, and there is no way to report a suspect developer, and it is obvious that Apple do not vet them. I thought this app was from the real developer but is actually IP theft against a real and well revered Mackie product. I will inform MACKIE that there is a copyright clone on the App Store, hopefully they will get sued and stopped from ripping people off!!!!!

Brilliant

This app has allowed me to use Cakewalk Sonar remotely when recording. As there is not a template for Sonar it took some work to get it to respond correctly. I used it yesterday for the first time for several hours with no glitches. The method I used to set DAW Control up was as follows: I used the V200 surface preset in Sonar then found what buttons did what and the codes then transferred them to the 'correct' buttons. Also I tried trial and error which work for my requirements! I could not find a list of MIDI notes to keystrokes for Sonar anywhere. In conclusion it has been very worth while to spend the time in getting it to work. Cakewalk Sonar has some good advice about surface controllers: Work out what you want from the Surface Controller then work to get that working. So I advise that you do not waste time getting everything working but concentrate on your own requirements.

This app deserve mor attention.

I just bought an iPad Air to read books and to twist some mobile music production stuffs. I have been using Ableton for 3 years and I really wanted a controller mixer all time because I some time had a recording duty. Tweaking with mouse is really messy. I thought that if I buy an iPad I could try some controller app. I first found Touchable which is really expensive for some one doesn’t need all the control. Then I found LK it is really messing, I don’t know it just me or I really got confuse. Then I saw this app. I didn’t expect so much because if some interface look like old school or analog stuff it just happen to be trash. Then I downloaded this app. First time midi connecting is confusing me but not that much. Then when the app directly assign all you knobs and faders directly from my Ableton and I can directly control necessary knob and mixing right away I opened it, I’m just so happy now. What a worth for $3 app!. If some one is reading my review and if her/she is an Ableton user looking for mixer controller (not complete control) you came to the very right place.

App is crap, no customer service...

I had high hopes for this app when I first found it, but my hopes were soon dashed after I bought it. Where to start? Here are a few of the disappointments: when using the Ableton setup, the fader buttons don’t line up with 0 (unity gain). They are almost 4 dB off. The VUs on the faders are almost impossible to see. For some inexplicable reason when numbering the channel strips, they left the number 8 off of channel 8. And the topper? Zero customer service. I emailed them regarding these issues and received no reply. Glad it’s cheap because it’s a throw away.
