App was great now not so much!

The app always worked great, very simple to use with shortcut icons to invoice etc, which is great as I run a mobile business! However over the last few months it has become almost unusable!

First of all older regular customer details started randomly vanishing from the app, however if I log in to the website they are still there! So I had to start logging onto the website to send those invoices (annoying but still working). More recently the app has almost completely stopped working almost all shortcuts and features have disappeared costing me a lot of time and therefore money. Not the kind of bugs I would expect to encounter from such a large financial management software company!

Please sort it out quickbooks or I will be moving my business elsewhere!

Hi there. Thanks for letting us know what's going on in your app. We're here to help! Let's start by resetting the app's data (QuickBooks Settings > Refresh Data) and uninstalling/reinstalling the app. If you continue to have issues, please email us some screenshots indicating your missing info on the app vs the website to QBCares@Intuit.com. Please fix the receipt cropping - it’s awful

Generally I use the desktop app, except when scanning or capturing receipts - in which case I often use the mobile app.

Hence about 95% of the time I’m using this mobile app to capture receipts.

The capturing and cropoing process is probably the worst I’ve used in any app - period.

If I have an existing image of a receipt and capture it, the app often decides that half of it needs to be cropped out by default - the ‘automatic’ cropping is just universally bad at doing this.

When I then try to fix the automatically cropped image, the method used for moving the corner handles is just dire. Why you can’t adopt the standard method of dragging the sides of images I don’t know… and having the handles ‘stick’ when they touch the sides is painful. It’s just an awful way to crop images quickly and easily. Crop / rotate images using the usual tools / methods - don’t reinvent something (badly) that just infuriates users.

Please fix the image cropping. At the very least just default to never auto-cropping initially (provide a button for it if anyone really wants you to screw it up for them) and I’ll use iOS photos app to do the cropping properly.

I don’t usually write reviews - but this has been annoying me for years and it’s totally fixable.

Hi Shadenville. We want to take a closer look into your receipt cropping problems. When you get a chance, please ensure your device and app are fully up to date, log out, restart your device, refresh your data (All > Intuit Account & Settings > Refresh Data > Refresh Now), and then email the results to QBCares@intuit.com along with your Apple ID. That way, we can investigate further and get it sorted. All the best. -Karey, The QuickBooks Team

Have to admit not impressed

Did the trial but didn’t take out a long term subscription.

Biggest problem for me was the invoice or receipt system. You upload an invoice and then QuickBooks calculates the value, but it always just takes the first figure it finds. So my invoices will always have postage attached to them, but QuickBooks never picks up the postage or the final total. The bigger problem is QuickBooks then adjusts the picture of the invoice to the part that it thinks is most relevant, often cutting out the total amount, meaning I can edit the amount quick books has found because it then looks like I’m fiddling my books.

All in all for me, it’s quicker, easier and more accurate to do it myself.

Stealing from your customers! Keyboard doesn’t come up STILL!!!

Quickbooks is not providing the service I am paying for. UPDATE: this app still doesn’t work. I have followed every instruction and have taken every update. When creating an estimate from the iPhone app, the keyboard won’t come up therefore I can’t enter an estimate and must go to my laptop. As a self employed person, this is extremely inconvenient. I have given Intuit a lot of money for Quickbooks and TurboTax over a period of many years. As a paying customer, I deserve better. I am wasting money with this app. But can’t go to a non-subscription program because it isn’t offered. This is theft. You’re stealing from your customers. You have a months long issue with an app that doesn’t work, after a faulty update! Fix this app!!!

I have updated the app, deleted and reloaded the app, and still when creating an estimate the keyboard won’t come up! This app has become useless to me. When I create estimates from quickbooks online I’m unable to access them on the app sometimes for hours! The two are not communicating well at all. Self employed individuals do not have time for this! I am so disappointed that I’m going to either have to choose and learn another app or go old school with my own spreadsheets and invoices. This is so unacceptable!!!!!

Glitchy and horrible quality control

This app has tons of glitches and problems, both in the app and the accompanying website. There is no quality control on coding or features that are added. Very low-quality developers, which is typical of everything QuickBooks does. Nothing ever gets fixed either, I’ve used QuickBooks desktop and online for years and it’s always been this way. Really doesn’t give you any confidence in the software that your entire company depends on.

Edit:
In response to the developer response… Restarting it or changing my Wi-Fi will not fix the problem with your app. It’s insulting that tech-support would even respond with that. The problem is low quality software. Also, I just spent an hour on the phone with tech-support to fix a problem with how some of our reporting is showing up… because of a glitch in the software. They changed so many things that they had to open a ticket to have someone else go in and reverse the damage that the tech-support rep did. The rep seemed to have very little knowledge or skill in accounting. ask any bookkeeper or accountant, they will tell you how much they hate this software, I’ve asked many.

Hi there. It's hard hearing that you're facing issues in the mobile app. While most issues can be resolved with resetting app data, rebooting the phone, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, and connecting to a different wifi/data network, rest assured that we're determined to assist further if those don't help. Please email qbcares@intuit.com with a copy of this review. All the best. -Myshka, The QuickBooks Team

Had it for 4 years. And it’s terrible! RUN AWAY!!!

It’s Monday morning. QB has an internal error. I can’t run a profitable business like this anymore. Run away do not put your business in harms way. This software is unusable at this point and costing us money. I will never come back after today. I’ve had QB for 4 years. It’s had its glitches but this year it’s just about unusable. The only thing keeping me is it’s a trusted name and moving all of my data from prior years would be very tedious. But unfortunately I have no choice at this point. I have a business to run and I can’t do that when the app doesn’t work 90% of the time. I have no need for a pc and I don’t use most of the junk in the app. Day 4 quick books won’t let me create estimates. I read the developer’s response to Thursdays complaints about new features. We shouldn’t have to re install the app clear history’s clear data to force the app to work. It was fine just as it was. Quit making changes or create a duplicate app that you don’t screw around with all the time for those of us that are content with basic features. We don’t ask for improvements every day. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. You’ve “fixed it” to the point it’s broken and useless. I feel completely stuck with QB.

Disappointing Updates

Long time subscription since 2017. Another update for the app based version on my IPad Pro which just keeps getting worse. The search bar for both customers and quotes has gone which means scrolling through 100’s of names and invoices to find the information. The list of quotes and invoices does not even display the most recent at the top of the list??

As time goes on using this software through the app is getting more and more dysfunctional.

There is not much that is intuitive about this company anymore.

Hi there. Thanks for bringing this up. Our developers are currently working on fixing this search issue that is causing previous filters/searches to not clear. For now, we've found that going into the Search bar and tapping Cancel should bring the lists back in full. Don't hesitate to let us know if that doesn't work for you. Hope this helps. -Myshka, The QuickBooks Team

Gets worse with each new version. Better off with an abacus!

I can’t underscore how BAD this app is. Every time Intuit puts out a new version, it’s a whole new learning curve to figure out where they’ve hidden everything and how to do what I need to do. It seems as though the engineering department has no clue about real world experience of running a business. So, here’s a clue - business people don’t have the time to spend on relearning an already clunky and unstable app. Second clue - Business people are not your beta testers! Test, test, and retest these updates before you unleash them on the public.

Again, the latest update has completely wrecked the app on my iOS iPhone and iPad. Now, I cannot utilize QB at all unless I utilize the PC in my office. I’m sure they will fix it in 2-weeks, but that’s 2-weeks that I have to try to work around this failure…and this is not the first time (nor second, nor 8th) …anytime a new update or version comes out it’s a nail biter as to how badly it’s screwed up and how many weeks it’ll take before I can use QBO on my iOS devices again. Now, when I start my iPad app, it says there is a newer version and I have no other option but to go to the App Store, where any attempt to update this app crashes the App Store, sending me into a constant loop. I feel like an abacus would be more productive than QBO.

The App keeps changing for the worse

Constant changes are not making life easier for the user, so not sure who the changes are supposed to be helping. One change that’s occurred months ago does not let you easily change the description in an invoice product/service if the description is long. You have to cut the description, paste it somewhere, make the changes, copy the new description and paste it back into the invoice. Previously it would drop down the entire description you could make changes and just save it but now it’s just one line and you can’t click into wherever you need to make the change in the description unless it’s very short on that first line.

Another change that just happened is that you can’t make a copy of an invoice while you’re in the customer tab with all the invoices listed down below that. The button no longer works for make a copy, instead you have to go into an entirely different tab called invoices, search for the customer you need, look for the invoice under the filtered invoices and then do the whole process that way. Why can’t we we do our work within the customer tab as we previously could? This makes no sense. We like to do everything under each customer as we have for years. Why give extra steps?

They will steal your funds look at the comments

I have used Square processing for many years now and this past year decided, January 1, 2024, to start using QuickBooks. The first thing was, I noticed how clunky and and hard to use the interface was. But I loved the professionalism of the invoices and the mileage feature. I noticed the first time I actually got somebody to deposit money through their payment, it was very hard to find where the money was and how to transfer it. They done you constantly to stay with their QuickBooks checking, and it takes days for the credit cards to clear, deposit into your QuickBooks account, and then be transferred to your business banking. It’s all in an attempt to make using your own bank instead of theirs, extremely difficult to point you towards using their QuickBooks checking. finally, less than a dozen invoices, and that’s all I’ve sent, this last one a customer paid me a deposit for their merchandise that was over $2400, QuickBooks closed My account without my permission and froze my funds in place. They admitted this and said it would take I’ll to 90 days to get my money. STAY AWAY!!
