Description of Mexican Train Dominoes Gold

Reviews of Mexican Train Dominoes Gold

  • Excellent game when you don’t give them money.

I loved this game so much I decided to pay for it to get rid of the ads. As soon as I did, I started losing back to back to back. I win maybe 10% or the games I play now. Of the ones I lose, around 75% of them leave me with 15 dominoes and no doubles while the computers have 3-4 doubles in a row with 4-5 dominoes remaining. Reached out for support and was told the problems I was having were rare. I told them that in addition to the minor issues, since purchasing the game I rarely won and that I wanted my money back since they’ve coded the game to unlock ads but also make it nearly impossible to win. Since then it has been radio silence. You may be wondering why on earth would they do that? Well, it turns out that you can pay them additional money to “win” the previous round and move on. By coding it so that you lose, you’re more likely to be frustrated enough to just throw a dollar at them and keep going. Not me. Save your money, enjoy the free game, and report them to Apple.

  • I have noticed that the AI often cheats when you play against it.

When you are playing in the AI mode I have noticed that often when you start to win, the AI then starts using all the other players as a team to try to defeat you. Instead of playing to win, like a normal human player would, one of the AI bots will start sacrificing itself just in order to sabotage you. It makes moves that are counterintuitive and drive up it’s own score just to also drive up yours. I usually defeat the AI anyway, but it’s still discouraging that the game is programmed this way. It is an obvious ploy to try to get money from you, because they then offer to let you “win the previous” round if you pay them to do so. There are much better Mexican Train apps out there, don’t waste any of your money on this one.

I found this game fun at first, but then it became obvious that the algorithm for this game is extremely predictable. Most of the time, in a three person game, I’m in the middle. If certain men’s names are playing a particular game, they are always the winner by a large margin. Once in a great while, you are thrown a bone and you get to win. If you have used all of your playable tiles, you are never going to draw a small tile to start adding up until you lose. I’m a strategic player, but I don’t want the game rigged against me. Then, between every round you have to watch a thirty second ad that any idiot can get the gist of in ten seconds, followed by another ten seconds of a finger pointing at something. Ugh! Enough already.
