  • Tv App version the worst

Before you removed yourself from the Freeview app, you should have checked the TV version actually worked. Every time I play a tv program it cuts out constantly and eventually stops altogether saying error browser not compatible. I’m not on a browser I’m on the dam tv. Also my internet is unlimited so it should work fine????

Here we are months later they may have changed the name of the Aop but the tv version has not changed at all same errors as above. And the so called tech support zero. Trying to watch a show always cuts out at lest 5 times with browser not compatible and I never get the end of a show cuts out and I have to restart the episode. Worst app ever!!!!!

  • Awesome content

This app is pretty epic really, there are heaps of great shows and movies stashed away in there. Unexpectedly good content and it’s free. I don’t mind the ads. Thanks for no ads during kids shows though. I do get frustrated that the news is so hard to find - wish there were some easy shortcuts or tabs (even if there were three slots!!) as have to search. Favourite great but can get stacked full of stuff. Minor in the scheme of things though. Overall a great streaming service.

Kia ora. Thanks for your kind words and your feedback regarding the news. This has been passed on to the team.
  • Good content, annoying app

Best content after Neon, but the app has two glaring issues that make it annoying to use: 1. The ads make it impossible to skip forward or back easily. If you need to jump to the end of a show be prepared to sit through a truck load of ads. The app is bad at remembering where you watched to, which compounds the problem. 2. Doesn’t play nice with casting. Invariably it loses the connection with your phone so you end up with multiple instances of the show playing when all you want to do is pause it!

  • There are so many things wrong with this app

Firstly, the shows on the app are mostly a bunch of random shows from around the world which I have never seen or heard of. It is very strange for an app that is literally NZ television based and none of these shows are actually on television. Not an issue just very odd.

Secondly, the search is not broad. You can’t search theme or category or anything except the show title itself which leaves you searching through a bunch of categories from the drop down menu to see what shows or movies there are to watch and most of them are ones you’ve never even heard of.

Thirdly, whenever you’re looking at shows and click on them to see what they’re about or get any info, once you press back it takes you to the homepage which leaves you starting all over again.

It’s like they just want us to give up and watch the shows that are recommended on the homepage.

And fourth if you’re just having a lazy Sunday and watching a series on your laptop the screen automatically minimises after every episode, why??

This app is pointless unless you just want to watch the news and can’t when it’s 6pm.

Sorry but 0 stars. Just not a fan.

  • Needs improvement

The other reviews really say it all... not up to standard.
I’m really making an effort to support NZ broadcasting, even though I don’t require live to air TV these days. But this app just doesn’t come up to the standard of other streaming services. No control options to go back or forwards seems like a basic oversight. If I miss something, I like to be able to go back 30 seconds, I might want to skip the title sequence.
The home screen and user interface in general is just messy and doesn’t seem well thought out.
I don’t mind the advertising, given it’s a free service, but the oversights on user control just make using this really frustrating, which is the opposite of other streaming platforms. We are offered so much these days, why bother with a mediocre service?

  • So frustrating

This has been going on since the beginning, when your phone screen times out the show obviously keeps playing, but don’t try and go back in the controls will usually be gone! That’s fine you can let it play, but you go to stop the show at the end (or it will keep playing episode after episode while you’re not even using it - major data use) and NO CONTROLS! Gone! Now you can’t even stop the chromecast because it appears to be already disconnected. By now the next episode is playing (still chromecasting!) and you can’t stop it! So you rip the chromecast out and close the app and hope that works (I’ve had them keep running before even after I closed the app, crazy I know).
Don’t bother contacting them, I’ve tried that months ago and no response.
Lightbox is soooo much easier to use and bug free.

  • It is just so annoying to use

I spent about an hour trying to access it on my iPad via safari but each time I would do anything it would push me a into downloading the app. I tried to download it but it wouldn’t work and after a few days, it is still struggling to download on my iPad.
It was then that I realised, I need to make an account. I signed up with me email but it didn’t send me the verification email so I tapped re-send twice and nothing still happened.
I then tried it on my phone because it has more storage. Still difficult. I had to sign in again and I had to ask again for it to re-send the verification. It finally came through. The app finally downloaded and I was on my way.
I was trying to watch ‘Ablaze’ for a school project and it was quite late now and I started to fall asleep. So I paused the film. Put my phone down and slept. The next day I tried to find the film again. It was quite easy to find but when I went back onto it. It didn’t leave me at the same time. I had already watched the bit. I ended up watching it for about five minutes before I realised that I watched it all yesterday. So I had to go searching for where I left off.
The film ‘Ablaze’ has people die in it. And just as I was watching the part where people started to die. I got a very, not appropriate for the time, ad about fortnite.
I honestly am not going to use this app again. It was so difficult and annoying.

  • Almost unusable

This app is super glitchy and has been for a very long time with no apparent fix in sight. It’s a wonder TVNZ isn’t embarrassed to have this app as a representative of their company - especially in this day and age when people don’t watch as much standard TV and rely on apps to choose when and what they watch. I have used this app on my tablet, my phone, my Apple TV and my smart TV and every version has issues that quite frankly shouldn’t be occurring.

Many times this app will buffer when the internet connection is perfectly fast and well signalled and the show I am watching will freeze or go to black (sometimes corresponds with when ads are supposed to happen, other times it just decides its had enough). Sometimes this even happens when I go into a show and try to watch it at all. Even when I exit out and go back in, I will encounter the problem again and again.

It is such a painful app to use that (to be cliche) I would give it less than one star were that an option.

Please sort it out - a fix is so long overdue! I know myself and many others enjoy some of the content that we can only get on here and it would be nice to get through one episode of something without encountering bugs.
