Ok, would like some changes
I can't hear the bell strikes well. I do have hearing lost due to 35 years around loud mainframe computers, AC units cooling them and work's total unconcerned about noise levels in rooms you spend 8-16 hours a day.
Still, there is no app volume control, sure needs one, not sure if it's the OS ringer setting controls it.
The other options would be to allow the user to change the tone of the high pitched bell to a lower frequency.Show lessiPadReady
NOT GOOD
This app lacks the featured seen in similar ship's bell apps, namely the ability to turn the chime off during certain periods. Most importantly, the app does not adjust for Daylight Savings and Daylight Standard Time, which means, the chimes are wrong 50% of the year. Finally, there is no contact information for the developer, not even on the developer's site, so we have no way to get questions answered.Show lessJJJvR
Almost Perfect...
I spent 8 years afloat and really like this app. The bell tone is authentic, the speed at which the watch bells ring is ideal and the "winding" requirement is a pleasant task. There is only one bug that needs a fix. No matter what I do, the app will not stay active in the background. Put simply, I want to open the app and have it running all the time, each half hour ringing all day and all night. This it will not do. Without warning, the app - as it is today - goes silent. Fix this bug and I'll rate it 5-stars. Thanks!Show lessCaptain JW

If your an Ole Navy guy & miss the navy bells, then get this app. I just leave it on on my iPad & it rings even though the cover is closed.

Love my Ship's Bells
When we sold our sailboat, the ships clock with chiming bells went with the boat. I am so happy to have them back on my iPad and iPhone. Best way to tell the time in the middle of the night!Punkyk

Love it when it works. It sometimes is fine then it does nothing...Silence! Then for no apparent reason it starts again??
Please make it more reliable because once you get used to it and it then just stops and then starts (clock kept wound up), it soon becomes seriously irritating. I wouldn't bother but it really is so good when it is working!
I agree, it is very pleasant to receive half hourly reminders of the relentless passage of time, but please make it more reliable. Sometimes I wonder if time itself has stopped! Nice app but as above it's becoming annoying.Show lessMe2nomoresky

This should not be an issue in the current version as long as "Background Fetch" and notifications are enabled for the app on your device.Ships Bells
Poorly written app. Have tried to delete and reinstall many times to no avail. Sounds wrong time or fails to sound at all. Please let me know when you've worked out all the bugs and i might be interestedKmichael2
no daylight saving time support
The chime is beautiful, five stars for the chime.
The Ship's Bell app needs to be wound by touching the screen, it says every week, but my app ceases to strike after one day, a silly and useless requirement by the developer. The app did not adjust to daylight saving time today so I'm going to delete and reinstall.Show lessfan of Chelsea clocks
