Lifetime Membership No Longer Honored
★☆☆☆☆
I purchased the StrongLifts Lifetime Membership approximately three years ago through Google Play as a one-time purchase. After switching from Android to iPhone, my lifetime purchase transferred successfully using the same account.
Recently, I discovered that several features that were previously available to me, including Plate Count, the Warm-Up section, creating custom workout plans, and updating sets, are now locked behind a recurring subscription.
As a lifetime member, I purchased the app specifically to avoid ongoing subscription fees. Moving features that were previously included behind a paywall significantly reduces the value of what I originally paid for.
I contacted support twice to ask for clarification and to have my lifetime membership honored, but I have not received a response.
This experience has caused me to lose trust in the company. When customers pay for a lifetime membership, they expect the features included with that purchase to remain available. Removing or restricting those features years later raises serious concerns about the company’s commitment to its customers and the integrity of its lifetime offering.
I would be happy to update this review if the company responds and resolves the issue.

Now wants me to pay again
Was good now a money grab
Money grabbers
I use to use this app about 9 years ago everyday was such a good app and recently reinstalled it as I was getting back into the gym and get blocked by a paywall honestly can’t be bothered now screw this app
Paygated trash
Locked me out and stole my data.
Buggy and they keep putting features behind paywalls
I paid for this app years ago before it was a subscription. It’s gotten much worse and they keep adding features I paid for behind a paywall.
This was a great app, but
Update. After 10 years of use, StrongLifts has taken away the power pack I purchased 10 years ago and is trying to force me to use a $60 yearly subscription to access those features. I reached out to them and they refuse to honor my purchase. I’m very disappointed and will probably look for another way to record my workouts.

Best lifting app!!
I love this workout! Support is the best. They take care of things right away and they have a ton of FAQs to help with lifting and support for the app. I would never consider using anything else! Whatever they ask for the Pro Subscription, pay it! You won’t be sorry.
Free Trial Bait and Switch
I tried to start the 1-week free trial but switched the subscription to monthly, then cancelled within a week because I realized my gym doesn’t have reliable barbell access.
Got charged at the end of what I thought was a free week, then realized the 1-week trial is only for the yearly subscription. That’s intentional and predatory. Give me a refund.

Great app!
This app has everything you need to follow a simple preset program or build your own. Great price, no frills and meets my needs perfectly!
Lost access/history to “lifetime” paid membership
Paid for premium pack years ago with ‘lifetime’ promise. Recent changes locked me out for good - now I’ve lost full history and features I paid for. Greed.
Intuitive and great
I’ve been using StrongLifts for years. It’s simple, and helps me get it done. Great app!
No access to Subscription
I’ve been Subscribed to SL for years now and just this past week something changed where I can no longer access my current yearly subscription. It was paid originally on my Android back in March, I moved everything over to iPhone and it’s been working great up until last week. I’m still on the old yearly plan which is $39.99 for the year which It looks like now costs $79.99. Part of me thinks this was done on purpose to get me to purchase the new price but who knows.

Not free
I used this app all the time and took a break due to injury. Came back to it to find out now I have to pay for it
Already paid, not paying again.
Years ago I bought this app for something like $5. The dev updated everything to the point that whatever I had bought, is no longer accessible without paying. Forget this guy. Im not paying him again, regardless of the changes. I just wanted the basic tracking anyway.
Declining Quality
I’ve used this app for around three years. In the beginning, it was one of the best weightlifting apps I had tried. It was reliable, easy to use, and made tracking my workouts simple.
Things started to change after the lifetime subscription was introduced. I don’t know whether it was related, but it gave me the impression that the focus shifted away from maintaining and improving the product. Since then, I experienced frequent bugs and errors that made the app increasingly frustrating to use.
When I’m in the middle of a workout, the last thing I want is to spend time fixing incorrect weights, reps, or other app issues. A workout tracker needs to be dependable because every interruption breaks the flow of training.
Eventually, I stopped using the app and moved to another one—not because the concept wasn’t good, but because the execution was no longer reliable.
It’s unfortunate because this is genuinely a great idea and was a promising App.

Heart breaking it’s not free anymore
It really was the best app for steady reliable growth, but I just can’t afford this.

Gets Results
I have used StrongLifts on and off for about 10 years, and I find it very helpful in getting results lifting weights.
Deceptive “Lifetime” purchase.
I’ve been using this app off and on for ten years, ever since I made the decision to pay upfront for a "lifetime pass" under the clear impression that I would have access to the service for as long as the app existed. It is incredibly disappointing to see the developer now unilaterally revoke that access and force long-term supporters into a monthly subscription model.
Selling a "lifetime" product is a contract of trust. By moving the goalposts and essentially nullifying the purchase I made a decade ago, the developer has shown a complete lack of respect for their early adopters. It feels like a total bait-and-switch; they got the initial influx of cash they needed to grow, and now that they have a steady user base, they’ve decided to squeeze those same people for recurring monthly fees.
I understand that development costs change, but if you cannot sustain your business model, the solution is not to steal from those who believed in you at the beginning. Very disappointed.

Terrible app
I used to love the app. It is now subscription only and there isn’t even an option to buy a lifetime fee. Although if there was I wouldn’t pay for it, this app is way too basic to even think of it as worthy of any subscription service. Get a different free app.
