I have been in China for more almost 2 years now and I have used every available translation app since I arrived.
When you are using any translator to go from English to Chinese and vise versa you learn how to write your English sentences so they translate properly, but between all of them as far as accuracy this one is the best.
I have many friends here that speak almost no English and we often use this app to communicate.
I have even paid for the extended offline language pack, that being said there are still a few important improvements they need to make, such as having a full English translation of all the parts of the app, once you go a little deeper into the different sections of the app including the phrase book it is only in Chinese. Whomever they hired to do the English for the translation engine should be hired again to finish the job.
All in all you will not find a better app for translating English to Chinese.Show lessAgni Purna

especially with the new update that translates the entire image at once, this app is so useful. I can take a screenshot of a website and quickly find out what it says. I wish I had known about this before I paid for the live translation feature on PlecoSo86

Happy to have Baidu Translation app
I’m so glad my friend told me about this app. Now, when notices are posted on my apartment door, I just take a picture, open them in the app, highlight the text and let Baidu loose. I’ll never again be surprised that the water is turned off in my building (again) or that I’ll be walking the 15 flights to my apartment because the elevator won’t be functioning. Can’t translate the whole image
This is a great app for photo translation. I frequently screenshot and use the photo translation feature. However, the screenshot fills the whole screen, and the very top and bottom cm of the photo are unable to be translated because the app interface blocks it. If photos could be resized to account for that, like in photo editing software, this app could be a 5 Star app.Show lessTexan in the jing

Works very well
So far I'm loving this app. I'm in china and quickly realising how little English is spoken out here.
I had to use my google translate (GT) app to even set up my baidu account. It was a case of taking screenshots and uploading them in GT, translating them and going back into baidu. It took me two days to open an account and I don't think it would have been possible without a VPN and GT... oh, and of course a Chinese number!
The app picks up what the locals are saying pretty well. As for English to Chinese, I've found it better to type as it makes a lot of mistakes through the mic.
I think the camera facility works a lot better through GT.
When typing, translation is very fast compared with GT. But I think both apps are necessary, as you never know when one of them will play up. And for GT to work you'll need a VPN. I advise to install high quality VPN on all devices before you arrive.
