Great but needs Hero Lab experience
Lonewolf development gets knocked about quite a lot over it’s main desk top application. The data files can only be published under licence to the original owner of the information. OGL stuff comes as standard. What we have here is the whole desktop app on an iPad. This is a FREE extension to PLAY characters. You can extend to editing characters with a FREE extension to your desktop licence. It works quite well but graphic UI can seem strange on those not familiar with desktop version. Best described as a bit “clunky” to use exclusively on its own to generate new characters. However for the core purpose of playing Pathfinder games using characters generated in Hero Lab it is excellent. Very good extension to the desktop version.Show lessAnotherMacUser
Character creation makes this even better than before
I have used this to replace my charater sheet for some time - there is nothing better for adjusting for many conditions on the fly (for example, what happens to your stats when you are hit with a -2 Con drain, a Haste spell is in effect, and the Inspire Courage bard song? This app allows you to quick add and remove those impacts to your stats.
However, the ability to update and create chararaters is huge bonus. No more having to go back to the computer to update and download to the iPad! This was a big bonus for long events like GenCon, where you can actually level up your character on the iPad between sessions without the computer. The perfect Pathfinder companion
I have used hero lab extensively to create many characters and I love the companion app on the iPad. It fully is able to replace my character sheet and ability descriptions which allows for a much more portable gaming experience. The new update to bring the full character creation to the iPad is the best you can ask for. Creating characters on the go, and then using them in game is amazing! I couldn't ask for more. Very Good but not perfect
This app is really good. In essecence I bought an Ipad for this app. That being said, there are some flaws that I found weird. The fact that you have to really know the program to have to make work arounds for simple things like being able to use a rogues sneak attack with an attacked marked as flanking. Or there is no tracking of critical hits or even a real way to use the roller to account for this event. Issues like these are the ONLY reason I did not give this app all 5 stars. The conditions tab and/or the Spell effect/ class ability buff tab makes this an amazing app.
It is also hard to remove characters and having to email yourself a character seems silly, especial when you have cloud services like icloud or dropbox available today.
In the end, this is still a great app, making my pathfinder games so much more organized. Who wants to have to lug around $500 in books every weekend? Not I that is for sure, now I don't have to.Show lessTblakley29
Only crashes (Updated)
This app crashes on any attempt to load a portfolio or install an update. Unusable on my iPad Mini with 7.1.1. Please fix, would love to invest in this system but no iPad app is a deal breaker for me.
Update: turns out this was a low-memory crash. This app is a memory hog! But aside from that it's great. Just make sure on a 512mb device like the first iPad Mini, clear out ALL other apps before launching ( and even then you might have an issue )Show lessLJ2315
It would be great if it was less buggy and slow
This app has huge potential, if only it was not painfully slow to load and switch between characters and didn't crash all the time. With the most recent update, it just crashes every time I try to load anything. (Ipad 2, IOS 7.1.1)Notabrick
Take the Time to Learn
This is a great tool if you take the time to learn. When I first started I had some frustrations because things weren't exactly clear, but through trial and error I was able to find almost everything that I needed or wanted. I do wish there was documentation to help with learning process. I find this to be so helpful when playing. I really love the fact that I'm not forgetting bonuses penalties and that it takes care of all of that for me. If you are playing with a game master who has all sorts of unique and original Wondrous items, I can see where it would be an issue. But I have not found that to be a problem with the games I play. Excellent work
The best app I've used for Pathfinder so far. Very flexible. A lot of features. The only draw back is that you cannot create a character from scratch. But you can do a lot of modifications and changes once the character is made.TheVelvetAnt
Latest update crashes
I am very disenchanted with the latest update. It has rendered my product UNUSABLE. It constantly crashes 10 seconds after loading. I loved this app before, used it for all my gaming but this version I loathe. I've deleted and installed the app multiple times, and always crashes.
