  • Amazing, but pricey

This app puts a truly impressive amount of information at your fingertips and is a very versatile and convenient way to play a Pathfinder character. The character sheet calculates all of your bonuses and keeps them handy, offering descriptions of all your abilities by simply tapping their name. It includes a vast array of default options, covering everything available from a great large amount of Pathfinder supplements, and it also allows you to create your own custom items and abilities if that's not enough! That said, there are some minor flaws here. While detailed, some of the systems are a bit cumbersome. The cost is also relatively high to get the most out of the software. That said, if you're willing to pay for Hero Lab, I don't think you'll find a better Pathfinder app out there!

  • Broken

Most recent update just broke it. It's unusable
  • False Advertising

They claim you can use the free version as an electronic character sheet... That is, sad to say, complete and utter bull. First, you have no access to any advanced guides. So you have a Witch character? Cannot use this app. Even if you could, guess what? You cannot make any edits after an hour, and the character sheet will not be saved. If the sheet will not be saved, how the HELL are you supposed to use it as an electronic sheet? If you cannot edit, how do you change current HP? You would have to remake the character sheet EVERY SESSION. It is flat-out false advertising. So disappointed. It looked great until that happened, but it is NOT worth $30 to have an electronic character sheet, when there is a website that does the same thing for free with wifi. Such a pity...

  • Frequent crashes detract from what should be an amazing program

Hero lab is easily one of the best programs available for a whole bunch of p&p rpgs. Plenty of plug ins (external purchases) and a easy to use interface make it a pleasure to use, when it works.

Unfortunately the when it works part is rather sporadic. Crashes are too frequent to give it anything beyond a 2 star rating, very frustrating given I've spent at least $60 on plug ins for extra content.

  • Expensive.

If you were to buy Pathfinder in hardcover, that would set you back about $50. This app effectively charges $20 for the Pathfinder plug in for character creation. And that does not include any of the Pathfinder extensions or modules. If you want any of those, you will have to buy those data packages individually, which range from $5 to $30 individually.

In other words, this app can become extraordinarily expensive if you want to use it with any of the expansions. And don't forget, the only thing this thing really does is character creation and dice rolling. Very, very expensive for limited function.

  • Incredibly detailed, easy to get started

I recently started GMing a Pathfinder campaign for my wife and kids (ages 14 and 11). Other than a couple of one-off adventures, they had never played an RPG before, and I probably haven't played one since AD&D 1.0 back in the late 1980s. Hero Lab on the Mac and iPad have made it much easier to keep characters, NPCs, and monsters straight, as well as helping me deal with a slightly different rules system than I remembered.

  • Requires a licence

This app requires a Hero Labs licence activation to be of any use, this app needs to be flagged as having an in app purchase or for the creators to offer the licence through the app.
  • Too expensive

App is useless without full Hero Lab for PC, which costs $30. Too much for a digital character sheet.
  • App Crash

For those posting about App Crashes, try to make sure you don't have any extra apps running in the background. You can close them by double tapping the home button on the iPad. This will show you a list of all the apps running in the background. Shut them down by sliding their screen images up and this will turn the apps off.

With that being said the current 10.5 version of the Hero Lab for Pathfinder app shuts down after 4 seconds of running even though its the ONLY app running on my iPad Air. I have posted a message to the Lone Wolf Development forums this weekend but don't expect an official reply until Monday (Nov 3rd).

  • Awesome character sheet

This app is great with the use of Hero Lab. Make the game run faster and smoother. All player around the table use it and love it. Quick reference to spell and feat. It is perfect for new player. Only con, the app sometime crash on starting. Otherwise, nice Pathfinder app!
