  • Awesome app

Love this app ! The ease of adding to-dos and pulling unfinished forward are among my favorite features - along with the simplicity and overall ease of use.

The developer is super fast to respond to questions which is unusual and refreshing in today’s world.
  • Rare Find

    Finalist for iOS Review

Finally a daily todo list that thinks like I do.

Finalist, more than any other I’ve tried and tested after an exhaustive search hits the sweet spot and balances form with function to an exceptional degree.

It’s is as much elegant as it is useful. Feels like every little detail has been crafted with the user in mind. A feat that is not easily achieved and have only seen in rare apps I’d call pearls in the vast sea of productivity apps we have at our disposal these days.

Sure there are always gonna be wishes for any app, no matter how amazing it is. But it has a lot going for it …

    You need Calendar integration. ✔️

You want a colorful view of your day, your week and all your lists. ✔️ Finalist lets you add a splash of color whenever the mood strikes. Say so long to the all too common and boring white screen of 95% of todo list apps. You have a palette of pleasing colors to choose from and 2 different design choices (plus one more in the 2.0 beta).

Want to see the weather in your day’s todo list? ✔️

Want to see how many days ahead a task is away, than just the date (as you get in most todo apps)? ✔️

Want to integrate with Apple Reminder? ✔️

Want to quickly bookmark a task and have a quick place to view all your important tasks? ✔️

Want to quickly see how far away in your day a pending event or take with a specific time is away in live time? ✔️

Want to quickly move your task to tomorrow or any other day in your calendar? ✔️

Want markdown links in your tasks? Or live url linking? ✔️

Want a lifetime purchase option and or a reasonable subscription price? ✔️

Want a clean slate each day without carrying forward precious days stale tasks that facilities clarity rather than overwhelm (with the option to re-add those tasks today at your discretion)? ✔️

Want optional headers / sections in your todo lists for better organization? ✔️

Want to pin a list that you can see on your day’s plan? ✔️

Want to be able to hide done tasks on your list and be able to change the completion date of your tasks (move to the day they were actually done)? ✔️

Want a fast and efficient search to find tasks or reminders easily? ✔️

Want multiple pleasing app icons to choose from (even more in the 2.0 beta)? ✔️

Want a responsive developer who genuinely listens and cares about your ideas and feedback? ✔️

You want a todo list / planner app that is actively developed? ✔️

There are so many little touches and details that I love.

When you fire up Finalist, what becomes immediately apparent how much the developer cares about the user experience.

There are a few wishes I’ll throw out they’re that I’d love to see in a future update or major version.

    List groups.
    Archive list option.
    Apple Watch app.
    Sub-tasks.

After conversing with the developer I can tell you a couple of these are already on his roadmap.

I’ll end by saying Finalist is truly a rare find that I’m delighted to have discovered. 🙏
  • Annoying First Day

I just started trying out the app 2 hours ago, and it just prompted me to leave a rating FOR THE THIRD TIME!! So here’s your rating.

    Developer Response

I’m sorry about that, sounds like the app got a bit over excited! 😆 I hope you do like it otherwise, let me know if I can help.
  • On it's way to becoming great Planner App

As a user of this app from it's very early days, I've grown to rely on it more and more, with each upgrade. It has become more useful and more sophisticated, with a more attractive user interface over time.

I purchased it after using it briefly and seeing the potential it held for me. I wanted an easy to use daily/weekly planner, with a clean UI, that didn't have that amateur coder feel to it.

Finalist was pretty simple at the start but seemed to hold lots of promise. That promise is coming to fruition with each new update.

My congratulations to the developer! Keep moving forward with Finalist, your work is appreciated.

    Developer Response

Thank you so much for this feedback, it means a lot! I'll keep moving Finalist forward - don't hesitate to let me know what you think it needs next 😀
  • Great app

Has saved my life many times. Very easy app especially for us ADHD clutter brained people who forget stuff constantly.

    Developer Response

Very happy to hear that :D
  • GREAT way to keep track of tasks

Plus this app accesses your calendar and places reminders and counts down for your appointments. Offers the ability to move up completed tasks to your current day. In addition, organizes shopping lists and joins the app on your iPad or tablet to your phone. Just wish the app would coordinate between family members.
  • Awesome and simple task app

I use this app every day on my iPhone and Mac to stay on task with what I really need to get done. It’s a brilliant workflow and the developer has been great about keeping it updated with new features to best take advantage of iOS 17.

    Highly recommend.
  • Like it but…

Only a couple calendars are showing in my monthly view making the app less functional cause i have to still look at icalendar app. The widget also seem to be discontinued.

    Developer Response

Hi there! Widgets are now fully interactive and better than ever, but you have to upgrade to iOS 17 to access them. Calendars can be toggled on and off so you can review any calendar at any time, but there just isn't space to show a dozen calendars at once in the Monthly view.
  • Refined Simplicity

Compared to the various ‘to do’ list kind of apps I’ve become used to over the years, the structure and approach of Finalist caused me skepticism when I first came across it. But the simplicity and the refinement of the user interface drew me in and I began to test it, use it and see how well it works in my daily life. I appreciate the developer putting this out and look forward to seeing what comes next. Great work!

    Developer Response

    Thank you 😊
  • New user

bought the plus subscription, the only thing missing/what i don’t like is there’s not a “notes” section for me to document certain things about my day that i don’t want showing under the monthly calendar tab. I like the lists and the daily to do list, but i need an additional feature to write daily entries or notes.

    Developer Response

I'd love to hear more about your idea (is this for journalling, or more for knowledge collection?) - are you able to email me (link in app Settings tab)?
