I decided to get serious about cribbage again and Cribby seemed promising. I was a bit hesitant based on the privacy policy but decided to try it anyway. I played some games and was generally very impressed with the quality and the hand rating feature, so I created an account and subscribed for $25/year. Kind of steep but the app is well made and the hand discard rating will help me get better.
Well, after you’re registered/logged in, Cribby charges an IAP currency to view the discard probabilities for each hand, effectively 1 cent. Even with the $25 subscription.
Sheesh! At least don’t hide that you’re going to do that behind the registration. If I’d known that was coming I never would’ve bothered to subscribe or register. The hand probability feature was a significant motivator for subscribing in the first place but it’s not actually included, and that is a surprise. Charge me $30/year and get rid of the IAP when subscribed, if you think $25 isn’t enough. What other gotchas are hiding in here? It’s sad, because this is obviously a well made app, but this choice is disappointing.
