  • Disappointing monetization choices even with subscription

I decided to get serious about cribbage again and Cribby seemed promising. I was a bit hesitant based on the privacy policy but decided to try it anyway. I played some games and was generally very impressed with the quality and the hand rating feature, so I created an account and subscribed for $25/year. Kind of steep but the app is well made and the hand discard rating will help me get better.

Well, after you’re registered/logged in, Cribby charges an IAP currency to view the discard probabilities for each hand, effectively 1 cent. Even with the $25 subscription.

Sheesh! At least don’t hide that you’re going to do that behind the registration. If I’d known that was coming I never would’ve bothered to subscribe or register. The hand probability feature was a significant motivator for subscribing in the first place but it’s not actually included, and that is a surprise. Charge me $30/year and get rid of the IAP when subscribed, if you think $25 isn’t enough. What other gotchas are hiding in here? It’s sad, because this is obviously a well made app, but this choice is disappointing.

  • I love this game!

I’ve played other cribbage app games but this by far the best one by far!! It’s so simple and fun to use and the discard score is useful for improving my play. Highly recommend!!!!

  • Unplayable now

Now that there is a commercial after every had it is unplayable, so t waste your time. What is a good app has become a commercial fest.

Sorry to see this. Honestly, I haven’t made any changes to the ad system, but will look into it and try to resolve. It’s not the intention to bombard with ads and I’m sorry
  • Got stuck on an ad twice in 10 minutes

I like the discard analyzer but twice this morning it got stuck on an ad in an expert game and there is no way to contact the developer. Not fun!

    Developer Response

Hi there, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Another user had the same issue and I blocked the ads they were getting stuck on. If you could send screenshots of the ads to me at leland@misquamicuttech.com I can get them blocked. I’m sorry for the experience and want to help get it resolved.
  • Ai is an issue

This is yet another cribbage game where rather than have the expert level AI make no mistakes, the developer seems to have chosen to cheat with regards to what cards the AI is dealt. I’ve been playing cribbage for over two decades and I’ve never seen such lucky hands. Deleting another cribbage app. Otherwise it’s an okay app. If I’m going to get cheated I’d rather play cribbage with grandpas.

Sorry you feel this way. As the developer, I can assure you that the cards are being dealt randomly and the only difference between levels is in the decisions made my the algorithm during the game. Since they are random cards, you likely had a stretch of bad luck which would turn around in the long run. As you can see from the weekly leaderboards, the expert is very beatable. Hope you give Cribby another chance!

  • Great game

Game is really great. Love the pace!

Counting is really fast so it’s hard to follow for new players.

Expert mode seems like the computer gets everything they need to beat you to oblivion and is a bit unrealistic.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the review - glad you’re enjoying the app! Check out the latest update for game settings: slower counting, dark mode, and Muggins I’ll also have another look at the expert algorithm, but can assure you that the cards being dealt are totally random
  • Count my own hand

I’m in the middle of my first game, so I haven’t explored all the options. I hope there’s a way to turn on the ability to count my own hand. I like to do that to make sure I caught everything myself. Basically, I want a muggins option

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback! Check out the latest update for Muggins. You can toggle on/off by tapping the gear icon in the top-right of the game screen
  • It’s very smooth!

Seems a little fast. I probably should look for the “how did you get that” slower button on the app. It’s the most embarrassing playing with older players counting out loud while they’ve already counted your points and are waiting to peg the ones you missed. Help a brother out.

    Anyway. Nice work!

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback! I read you loud and clear. The latest update has a few game settings that you can toggle by tapping the gear icon in the top-right of the game screen, including slower counting and manual counting (Muggins). At the end of each round you can tap the hands or crib to see points breakdowns as well.
