Light Stack Camera User Reviews

Doesn’t work in very dim scene.

I hoped this would work for long exposure images of the comet. However even when imaging bright stars, the stars aren’t visible.

Amazing

Excellent results. I’ve been a fan of the other developer long exposure app so after seeing this one for handheld exposures I decided to give it a try. Amazing results even up to 30sec. I just wish it would work with 48mp exposures as well as have exposure compensation.

Hello, a version with manual controls is currently in beta testing. Please contact us at support@cogitap.com to try it. Thanks for the review. :-)

Sorry

This is not really happening, not on newer phones anyway. I don't know if Apple make it harder to use low-light features on third-party software, but the built-in iOS trounces this. This app does help a little on phones using iOS 16 and earlier, as their low-light software is old school. So I would say this app is for older phones only. For newer phones, this consistently takes worse low light photos than just using the camera as is. Sorry. PS - your Slow Shutter app is excellent!

Light Stack does not have a Low Light mode, so it is expected that you will not see much improvement in low light conditions. And unless I can develop an algorithm at least as performant as Apple's (which is unlikely to happen), I prefer not to include such a mode. But if you ever need to take a long exposure under normal lighting conditions, a shot that would normally require the use of a tripod, I invite you to try the app again. You should be impressed. :-)

Best option for handheld long exposure

I have tried Spectre, ReHeld and many other “no tripod” long exposure wonders on the AppStore in different conditions and using all of the phone’s cameras, and so far this one app manages to beat all of them in terms of consistent output and quality.

I also think this has the most practical implementation of the “stabilizer” marker on-screen in terms of both being able to figure out how to keep steady and being able to resume an exposure in the middle once you’re able to improve your hand’s stability during a shot.

Great job!

Great handheld long exposure

I used cortex cam for years with a similar stacking methodology. I switched to light stack when I couldn’t reinstall cortex cam and it’s a great alternative. I’d argue the long exposure effect is far better than cortex cam. One I item I wish for is the ability to enhance resolution from stacking as well.

Works Great!

Works exactly as advertised. Stabilization is quite remarkable.

One of the better long exposure apps

This app does a great job at blurring water over long exposures. Also, the TIFF files that it can output appear uncompressed. I only wish the telephoto shots on the iPhone 14 Pro were more stable.

The very best

By far the best long exposure app on the go!
