  • Not enough subtitles

Good catalog, but unfortunately most films don’t have English subtitles. If this app could improve it would be a nice service.
  • No captions? ε=( ̄。 ̄;)フゥ

So glad to finally have Japanese programs that I actually want to watch in one location. The bad news is:

    1. There are no captions for ANY of the programming. If you are hearing imparied or, like me, are a non-native speaker of Japanese, you are out of luck. It is laughable that I can download the latest AsaDora from the intenernet fully captioned, but an outfit like NHK cannot be bothered to make these available to their customers in the west.

    2. Some of the most popular programs are not available ON DEMAND, but can only be viewed on the app's rotating program schedule (a block of 6 hour programming that repeats four times per day).

The monthly price ($25) is pretty steep considering that these two things are missing; things that no other modern streaming service is without.

  • poor service

This service is terrible replacement for TV Japan. Poor picture quality, not replaying system … No more programs I loved watching. Do I have to stay up if I want to watch my favorite shows? And when I saw tv guide schedule some tv program for little kids in the middle night. It’s ridiculous. Need improvement right away otherwise I’ll cancel

  • No subtitles and limited amount of shows

When I first downloaded the app there was an option to get subtitles. However, no subtitles appeared. Now that option has disappeared.

The shows are limited and not interesting. Even the scheduled streaming shows are boring.
  • Worst app ever!

This is a terrible app. The app keeps stopping and asking for the password which is unsaved several times a day. This is making my elderly mom so stressed as she can’t do this alone. This makes the rest of us so stressed too. The “Live” is not even real live. It is a prerecord that is streamed. The 24 hour Japanese stream that is supposed to be in Japanese features English versions of the show. What nonsense!
It is a shame that the whole Nation of Japan doesn’t even have one international broadcasting station. This app takes this fact and makes it even worse.

  • It’s not ready

I got this and subscribed to mainly support a “legal” way to watch sumo outside of Japan. It’s not live. It’s not on demand, it just streams the prior day’s coverage starting at different times. Why would anyone pay $30 a month for this when NHK World app has the basically same thing for free and on demand? The other content is fine if you can speak Japanese. I only found one show that had English subtitles. They don’t even have Japanese closed captioning. This app really should be free until it gets basic functionality. Provide live and on demand sumo and I’ll gladly pay and watch the other shows between tournaments. Until then, I’m going back to the alternatives.

  • One of the Worst Streaming Apps Ever

    "Saite!" The worst!
Developers should be ashamed. Movies are ok but limited. TV dramas are a pitiful mess. Streaming channels schedules are only forward-time looking so you cannot look back even in the same day to see what Episode number you may have/probably missed. Episode numbers are not sequential but jump around. Completely inconsistent app interfaces between Web, iPad, iPhone and AppleTV. Schedules frequently freeze. No ability to communicate with a human. The Chat option doesnt understand anything you write. Streaming Channel 1 information and title/episode label doesnt match Streaming Channel 2. This is crazy and completely negligent. Be forewarned: you will get to view Japanese movies many with english subtitles, you will even get to see Streaming tv series episodes, but you will never be able to follow them sequentially.

  • Doesn’t even work

Everytime I click on a show I get an error msg that says “oops, something went wrong”. Why even come out with an app you have to pay for it not to work?
  • The worst app ever for $25 per month

It does not offer a recording option, we cannot watch news nor variety shows… the app has a major flow, you cannot resume what you watched. It keeps saying the change app setting so I ended up removing the app and downloading it to watch.. we are paying the same price for less programs to watch because it does not have the recording option. Terrible app. The NKK World in English is available for free anyway.

  • Generously Gave Two Stars

Content has promise, though still inadequate. The performance of the app is, without doubt, the absolute worst of all streaming services. We paid for a yearly subscription with the expectation that we would be able to watch actual content. Much of our time is spent watching a circle rotating on the screen. Instead of using resources to send representatives out to talk up the service they need to hire technicians to fix the horrible bugs that plague the system.
