What a Japan!
Can’t connect with Samsung TV. On Toshiba fire TV, JME app is not found. I could use only with Insignia TV. Especially Samsung is blocking JME from all aspects ( No app, No internet, No HDMI, No USB). Even though, JME disabled Air Play!!!!
JME customer service call is directly connected to NHK group office in Japan. I spoke with two people, they don’t understand this situation and global business manner. They are greater than customer and teaching us their lower level knowledge, copying manual talk repeatedly. Especially, they don’t know about Air Play!!?? Wish it Were better
I’ll echo a couple of other reviewers. Most annoying is the poor picture quality when watching on a 65” TV via an Apple TV. The picture is cloudy and washed out. Hate to think I have to upgrade my TV to make it acceptable.
Also, the lack of either a recording capability or, alternatively, more useful on demand options is frustrating. The news is a bit stale when aired and having to adjust my schedule to catch favorites like Somewhere Street, Gentle Journeys, etc is not likely to happen. This severely limits the value of this app.

Inadequate “replacement” for TV Japan
This app is supposed to replace TV Japan but it is a serious step down and frankly a major fail. First, there is a noticeable lag in both the Roku and phone app. Second, the schedule never appears on the Roku app. Third, the organization of the app is not intuitive. Fourth, there is no way to record programs and most programs are not available on demand. If you miss it on steaming you can’t watch it. The cable channel with DVR allowed time shifting. Not Good

App Has Major Problems
Like many other people, I downloaded the JME app to replace the on-air TV Japan program that discontinued service. After one week, I am very disappointed with the app. Most people that are new to JME are from the North American region where there is time change of 10-12 hours. Unfortunately JME does not have a record capability. Staying up past midnight to watch your favorite show is not a very good solution. JME needs to create a record solution, or offer repeats of NHK shows. Although JME’s menu offers a My List option, it does not work at all. Since there are a lot of elderly folks that were forced to make the change from TV Japan to JME, a tutorial on the app options would probably be desirable. All in all, the app needs major work to justify the $25 a month fee.Show lesstetsu_1
Recording? Music Shows? Casting to Devices?
So I can’t watch TV Japan anymore and this doesn’t allow me to record anything. It doesn’t show anyway to cast to my television (which I do with other apps all the time and with no problem). There’s no music shows. And it’s basically 300 USD a year.
When I had TV Japan it was nowhere near that amount. As a working person I could record and watch shows as I wanted. I enjoyed seeing good and recent music shows.
Basically I have to just watch this live on my phone or iPad. For.much more money.

Bad picture quality
This App is to replace TV Japan service. It has good variety of contents which I can enjoy even after discontinuation of TV Japan. But I hate to say a couple of major issues to reach this 2 stars rating. 1. Picture quality of this app is the worst among any streaming service I have experienced before. 2. Picture is very dark by some reason…. 3. No recording capability for the live broadcasting. Not all program is provided as on demand. I hope they can update to improve these in the near future because this program is most expensive streaming subscription I am paying.Show lessSF-T
Need Recoding Options
It’s very disappointing to not able to record any show especially international new(kokusaihoudou). The application needs more improvement.M3lmochan
Recording or additional on-demand
Good start, but I wish you can record shows or have increased on-demand options. If recording is not possible, it would be great if the shows (such as news programs, variety shows, dramas, etc.) populate in the on-demand section an hour after airing and allowed to be viewed for 1 week.pochyama
