  • Disappointment

An interactive show that has severe monetization and design problems that unfortunately distract and take away from its main draw: experiencing the story.

At its core I don’t really have anything wrong with an audience actively making choices in a Choose Your Own Adventure-type show to guide a story. It’s just everything else in this app wants to take away from it.

Pop-ups to vote in future decisions blocking subtitles and events in the cutscenes, distracting chat and emotes taking away from immersion, random quick time event segments after each day’s scenes that have little to no relevance to the day’s plot, mini-games that feel extremely unpolished, a season pass required to experience 90% of those mini-games, choices that don’t seem to have a direct impact on the story so far except for what dialogue a character says, labeling those choices so there’s nothing interesting about thinking what consequences a decision could have, experiencing the story in small increments so you can’t settle in, etc.

Outside of all of that the plot of Silent Hill Ascension could have been interesting if it was a standard adventure game. However with all of these systems tacked on that are meant to inspire community engagement with the story of a game a long-dormant franchise, it only pushes you away from having any connection with its world or characters.

Thank you for your detailed feedback and we hear and appreciate your perspective. We are working on some issues that should address some of your concerns you were having including the decisions blocking subtitles, variety with interactive endure scenes and more. If you prefer a more lean back approach we will release compilation episodes every week where you can watch all the content from the previous week in one video on demand. We are also working on many improvements to chat and if you prefer a more uninterrupted experience you can click on the chat icon to hide it altogether from your viewing experience. The Founder’s Pack does contain additional puzzles, but we are offering all story content, all decisions and select puzzles free. We’ve also added an additional Mindfulness puzzle available for all users for free. The audience decisions do have a direct impact, some decisions are much smaller and some decisions are much larger that will play out later on. You can view the decision context which may help you understand how that decision may impact the story.
  • Pay to play

The worst way to bring back a beloved memory is to kill it with money.

Thank you for your feedback. All decisions are free. There is no video or story content behind a paywall. Every day, goals and certain puzzles unlock for free. We are creating a community-based product with the ability of having millions of people participate easily and free.
  • Interesting idea, but only the rich can really make a difference

I’m enjoying the concept overall and the story is interesting enough so far. The UI could be a little clearer for sure. The biggest problem is that it feels like your decisions really are not that impactful unless you want to spend a ton of money (like…a ton). I’m not crazy about letting the richest decide the fate of the characters but it’s absolutely a novel idea, so I commend them for trying something new in terms of pay-for-play mechanics.

It is really great to hear that you are enjoying the concept and the story so far and I wanted to thank you for your feedback. There are areas of our UI that we are actively working on as well as additional improvements and we continue to make improvements everyday. On the decisions, they do matter and because of the volume we are receiving we are seeing some values in the millions. The benefit to all of that is it balances out the notion that any one person can pay to get their way. This is why it was important for us to make IP Pack values small and also make sure that an individual can earn a meaningful amount of IP for free through watching video on-demand, participating in puzzles, completing daily and weekly goals and joining live interactive Endure sequences. Your individual decisions are important and do contribute to the collective outcome - we are making a horror series together after all. Your individual decisions also help us with the checks and balances I mentioned earlier because the decisions are reaching into the millions so one person can’t come in and decide it all. Not every decision you choose will always play out depending on what the audience decides, but it is important to keep deciding actively because many of them will become canon and it will help us maintain a fair and balanced experience for everyone.
  • An absolute insult to the series.

This is one of the worst modern pieces of media I’ve ever seen. It’s not a game, show, or movie. It’s a pay to have the most influence thing? God, I can’t even describe what it is. I was actually looking somewhat forward to this. But man, this is so bad it makes the pachinko machines look pretty good. At least those are fun. Please stop giving this series to people who have no idea what they are doing.

To conclude, I can’t believe this actually exists. It honest makes me very worried about the future of this series.

  • Gross monetization, not a proper reboot.

Now honestly, this is the first time that I’ve genuinely dipped my toes into Silent Hill. I’m a rather big fan of horror and seeing this made me a little interested.

The first second after I made my account, it threw a pop up in my face saying that I have the option to buy a founder’s pack for 20 bucks. And the fact that there’s a season pass for a STREAMING SERVICE already says enough.

    This is not Silent Hill.

  • Won’t let me log in

The screen where you sign up won’t let me type anything and constantly reloads. Useless

  • A disgrace to Silent Hill

Predatory as mobile games come, stuffed full of microtransactions. Who in their right might thought the best way to reboot SH would be to shoehorn in a battlepass? Possibly the most cynical cash grab I’ve seen, and that’s saying a lot considering Konami’s history with the IP.

  • Embarrassing

Terrible acting, bugs galore, stiff cringeworthy plot and a deluge of micro transactions for no obvious benefit.
I am one of the fools who has been begging for the return of the Silent Hill franchise, but maybe it should have stayed dead.
A really interesting concept, executed horrendously.

  • Unfun implementation

Im a really big silent hill fan so i was pretty critical of this game when it released. The game is split into two halves which occur every day at the same time. A narrative section and a mini game section. Bothe of these occur while live-streamed and are a community based experience. This community based system immediately ruins the game. Players vote on one of three possible outcomes for a small narative slice akin to a telltale game. But where telltale allows you to make your own decision and compares it agains the communities, this game forces you to abide by what the community decides. Additionally they allow people to pay money to increase their vote further diminishing your own.
The second half of the game is a quick time event game that is never once explained, so as your franticly tapping and pressing the screen trying to figure out the controls your actively losing because again this is a livestreamed event as everything is “live”.
My final issue is that although its a live experience it dosent give off the apperieance that it needs to livestream every element, but somehow it seems to do so rather then preload the elements and then replay them in higher quality. I played this on my iphone 15pro max with my home fiber internet connection and the game was a pixelated blurry mess that was hard to see.

0/10 So many other games are worth your time and storage.

  • Avoid…avoid like your life depends on it…

This is NOT Silent Hill. It’s NOT a game either. This is a simple cash-grab, that’s been sprinkled with the Silent Hill name to get attention and attract customers…customers who are unaware of what the “game” truly is…

Still haunted by the horror of Silent Hill Ascension - not in terms of its story or characters, but as culmination of corporate greed, creative banality & hollowed product in which is poured the melted remains of NFT shilling. It's obnoxiously loud, too

Anyone "excited" for this is completely out of their mind or just not aware of what it is. Spend money to vote on what weekly pre-rendered cutscene you get to watch on a streaming service

Season pass doesn’t work, which is £20…if you buy it, it doesn’t recognise that you purchased it (confirmed by lots of various sources)

This is awful, and an embarrassment to the Silent Hill name…
